I assume this will have serious ramifications for the whole league.
For Dartmouth, it means that this will be the final year for both Samuels and Wade (despite their having played only three seasons in Hanover). It will leave an especially large hole at the point, as Dartmouth hasn't played anyone else there this year (when Samuels is out Barry and Rai have helped bring up the ball, but they'll be gone too).
This rule also means Adelekun and Ogbu have only one more season. Grrrr. Dame is really coming into his own. I'm assuming Krystowiak could get a medical redshirt if he wanted it.

The only schools that managed this 'well' were the ones that told their kids to take last year off entirely. For the next 2-3 years those programs will flourish and the rest will sink.
When combined with the League's resolute refusal to allow grad transfers, the Ancient Eight is inching ever closer to being a glorified D3 conference. Good luck with that in the coming years.

And they got a lousy year of virtual school at full price.

By that you mean Yale? They’re the only team that did that. There are a couple of other one offs (well, Penn has two), but that’s it.
And as far as Yale is concerned, we’ll see how they do next year without Swain and Gabbidon. They usually retool fine, but it’s not like they are keeping lots of starters forever. The only guy in the starting lineup who took the year off to preserve eligibility and will be back next year is Kelly.

On the women's side (remember they play basketball, too) Harvard, Yale, and Princeton all had multiple starters sit out of school last year.

On the Princeton men's side, Mason Hooks deferred admission for a year and is now a freshman, should be a sophomore

Abby Meyers of Princeton has a good chance to be Ivy POY and she should be on that group, too.

Abby's case is different, she would have been a junior in the 20-21 season so she's correctly a senior now. She took the 18-19 season off due to an academic issue, but was enrolled in 20-21.

Presumably, Abby Meyers has one year of eligibility left, having played 3 seasons: 17-18 (freshman); 19-20 (sophomore); and 21-22 (senior). So, she could be a graduate transfer somewhere next year, if she decides to do that.
