Those of you who think we're "playing for fourth place at best" can sit this one out, but I'd like to know what the real Penn fans think about tonight's Yale at Princeton matchup. I believe catching Princeton and a league title are within our grasp. Remember, we are two down in the loss column, which could be cut to one tonight. We still have the season-ending rematch at the Palestra. If we win that and finish the season tied, we could win the tie breaker by virtue of having already beaten all of the other ILT contenders - Yale, Harvard, Brown, and Cornell. Our horrible loss to Columbia doesn't hurt that much given the Ivy tie breaker rules which go from head-to-head to best other wins. Either outcome tonight has +/- implications for the Quakers, so arguments can be made for either result.

Keep in mind that the official Ivy League champion is determined by the regular season, so a #1 seed in the ILT also means a championship and a banner.

after tonights home game, Princeton has 6 of their final 8 on the road which is worse than Penn's stretch (5 of 7 on the road). Yale is in better shape than Princeton and if they win tonight, I think they are in the driver's seat for the 1 seed.

Do you think our best path to #1 is with a Princeton victory then? Or do you think we have no chance and are playing for a spot in the 2-3 game? I don’t put a big emphasis on the HCA anymore without the traditional back to back weekends.

We play 2 back to back road weekends--at Columbia/Cornell next weekend and at Yale/Brown 2/18-19 so if you think that is a major factor, you may want to revisit your opinion.

My view is that we have favorable matchups against all teams except Princeton and Columbia. Right now, with Dingle and Slajchert almost unstoppable once they get into the lane, we should improve as our 3 point shooters start hitting open 3s.

Well, you and I are both on record saying HCA is not a major factor in this year’s Ivy League. Besides, I was responding to the comment that Princeton has even more road games to go(6/8) than we do (5/7), so there’s nothing to rethink. That person seemed to be arguing that a Princeton win is in our interest as Yale would be in the driver’s seat otherwise, in part due to the road games.

The back to back remark was more about the reduction in HCA throughout the league due to the new schedule. That will almost certainly be the case in the future, if not already.

Well, I’m totally with you there. Princeton’s in first, so our best path to first is with them losing. We can win the league.

They should have Curran doing color for this game instead of Noah you know who.

Although it’s interesting hearing Noah dealing with Princeton getting its tuches kicked, at least for now.

Savage wondering how Princeton is going to be able to compete now that referees are actually calling fouls against it.

Also wondering if the snow is affecting the court as both teams have had players slipping on it.

Maybe it's me but seems like P gets a lot of love from the refs. They play very physical and not a lot gets called on off or def end.

And for an example, Llewelyn is using his off arm to clear space and he gets the block called.

We don’t have a matchup problem with Columbia. Everyone else in the league plays small (often smaller than us) and has no problem matching up with them. Do you really think there is something magical that makes it so we can guard Swain, but Columbia can guard Dingle but not Swain?

Dingle had a bad night on both ends, we made some adjustments that were mistakes in hindsight, and the guys we hedged off of to help either killed us on the boards (Harding) or from 3 (Shockley-Okeke). I find it hard to believe Dingle will have another rough game against them, and I know we will not leave the same guys open again.

They sure loved them against the Quakers.

Dingle was off, but we lost that game with 2nd chances for CU. They absolutely destroyed us on the boards. Absent that, we win by 15-20.

Great first half for Yale. Makes our beatdown of them look even better.

Isn’t it fun hearing Noah now? He’s pretty stunned going into halftime.

I really do think there's something about the floor being slippery. It has really created havoc at times with a lot of loose balls.

They opened the telecast with Jones and Savage wearing hats, telling viewers that they needed them on to keep themselves warm in Jadwin.

My point about Princeton having 6 of 8 on the road was simply to point out their 5-0 was built on home games and that will even out in my opinion.

Of course HCA is a factor. It always is. So Yale having most of their remaining games at home gives them an advantage in my opinion.
