Live right now on FS1, Dingle and Ledlum on St. John’s going against Knoll on Stony Brook. Dingle reduced playtime apparently coming off shoulder injury in preseason but his first bucket was classic Dingle and1. Ledlum and Knoll both making buckets.

Michigan and Jaelin Llewellyn up next for St. John's too.

(although Llewellyn is out tonight, unclear when he'll be back)

I was at the game. JD is going to have to figure out how to play off the ball and be efficient with fewer touches. He did have a nice block of a Noll layup attempt on the break, but needs to do a better job of keeping his defensive assignment in front of him.

Ledlum was everywhere. Total beast with unflagging intensity.

When this team gets to know each other better, they're going to be a tough matchup.

I frequently felt over the past two seasons that Penn would have had a better team if Dingle had played more off the ball and learned to be more efficient with a lower usage rate. That's more on the coach than it is on the player, BTW, so not really a criticism of Jordan.

As for defense, let's be honest-- JD was never a defensive standout as far as I could see, although I do think he was adequate.

I don't want this to come off as slamming Jordan Dingle. He was a great player for Penn. But I think the coaches could have used him more creatively and effectively.

JD was 5 for 11 from the floor and 1 for 6 from 3. Most of the missed shots were short and off the front of the rim. I read that he had been out for most of the preseason, so I think it was a question of his not being in game shape yet.

Specifically I read he was out with a shoulder issue, so assume that could explain his shot being a bit off also. I’d guess he is working back into game shape and also where he fits.
