TWITTER QUESTION FOR FEINSTEIN TODAY (@JFeinsteinBooks):

" I’ve never been to any of the iconic college basketball venues. If I’m planning a road trip, what shouldn’t I miss? Thanks in advance."

John Feinstein (@JFeinsteinBooks):

"1. Palestra...2. Cameron...3 Allen Field House...4. Hinkle Field House...5. Sojka Pavilion (Bucknell)...6 Pauley Pavilion...7. Cole Field House (oh wait)....7. The Barn (Minnesota)...8. Rose Hill Gym (Fordham)...9. Levien Gym (Columbia)...Lavietes Pavilion (Harvard)..."

Wow...I can see it being a nice venue, as far as atmosphere during the glory days, but not so much recently. It is definitely a nice facility, though, and no bad views.

Nice company in which to be included! Sometimes perspective is important. When I attended Bucknell in the late '70's - early '80's it was still transitioning from being a football school to a basketball school. It's amazing how far we've come in basketball culture.

Not sure it took this long for Bucknell to focus more on basketball than other sports. I was there in early '70's while Valvano was coach. If you were at the game when after a last second loss he smashed a folding chair at the ref's feet, there was no doubt what sport was the most entertaining.
