Another big win for the ladies. We were blowing AU out in the first half, but a precursor of what was to come was that we turned the ball over on our last four possessions of the half. AU trimmed a 17 point halftime lead to 10 before we got hot and ran it back up to 17. In the 4th we simply could not seem to stop turning the ball over and the Eagles got as close as 5. But our gals got the key baskets and rebounds when they needed and eventually AU had to resort to fouling and it was game over.
I think we played well in the first half, but AU also was awful. Our defense was stifling, and had much to do with Americans awfulness.

When is the last time a freshman in either program had anything like 14 points, 9 assists, 7 rebounds and 3 steals in a game? Talk about filling the stat sheet. Great game by Collins.

I think you'd have to go back a long way to find a frosh with three counting stats of seven or more, and four of three or more. Probably the biggest contender is Claire DeBoer, who had 24 points, 12 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals vs Colgate. Big numbers in two categories but not as high in the others. Also that was a much higher-scoring game.
Also on the women's side, Jacquie Klotz had three double doubles as a frosh - and she only started 11 games - but she didn't contribute many steals or assists in those games. On the men's side, Zach Thomas in limited minutes had two double doubles as a frosh and Nana had one - but neither put up the secondary numbers.
With Army's Trinity Hardy having missed recent games, it's looking like a two-way race for PL ROY between Cecelia and Loyola' Lex Therien. Therien has a big edge in rebounding, but Collins leads in scoring by a small margin and in assists by a huge amount. Collins also is shooting 55.4% on twos and 34.0% on threes, while Therien hits 40.8% (mostly shots in the paint). It also helps Collins' cause that she is a key player for a contender.
