I've been meaning to post something about Maura, but never got around to doing it. Although she has the 3rd longest throw, that came under unusual circumstances. She is seeded 8th based on her performance in the East preliminary round and is ranked 7th by Track & Field News. A top 8 finish would earn 1st team All-American, which is a realistic goal. That would be the highest finish ever by a woman T&F athlete and the best male or female performance since George Buckheit finished 6th in the 10,000 in 1979. I don't know if Bucknell has had any recent 1st team All-Americans in another sport, but I'm not aware of any. Another article: http://www.standard-journal.com/news/local/article... |
