Same home town (but not the same school) as Brendan Connolly. If she contributes as much as Connolly did, they'll have a good one.

Good news. Adding to quite a collection of recent First Team All Mets: Bella Alarie, Abby Meyers, Ellie Mitchell, Chetanna Nweke and now Parker Hill. I think that's called a "pipeline."

Doubtful we'll land Azzi Fudd but I hope Carla and crew have their eye on Kiki Rice at Sidwell, who will be a junior next fall. She's apparently quite a soccer player, too.

Now THAT (Azzi) would be the real coup. I remember articles about her recruitment that did not include mention of ivies, but did include comments by her former USA, now PU coach, Berube, so things could change.

We learned last year that Berube can coach, for sure. She got players to buy in to the non-glamorous strategy of defense first and they obviously executed.

The next question is can she recruit, like Banghart could recruit -- time will tell. If she builds a sustainable winning culture, excellent recruiting will be more likely.

She has a challenge next year losing a 6'4" All American player and 6'2" Bauer. She is fortunate to have a 6' player, who can replace Bauer and is probably an upgrade but the hole is Center. It probably all comes down to Kira Emsbo, 6'5", recovering from a bad injury. Junior 6'3" C Lexi Weger is a step down from Emsbo although she got some minutes and improved last year.

Princeton will not be able to compete at the highest level with front court players at only 6' tall so I would anticipate either Emsbo or Weger on the floor if healthy as a tag team.

ESPN had an article two week ago that looked at possible replacements for major programs when those coaches leave.

The Stanford section should be of interest to Princeton fans.

https://www.espn.com/womens-college-basket ball/sto...

- Stanford's Tara VanDerveer
In the family: Kate Paye, Stanford associate head coach. At least as much as Notre Dame's Ivey and UConn's Ralph, Paye has looked like the heir apparent for a long time. Heck, in the 13 seasons Paye has been on the bench, Lindy La Rocque was recruited by Stanford, played for Stanford, coached at Stanford and took a head coaching job at UNLV. Paye had plenty of options, in other words. She chose to stay at the school where she also earned her law degree and MBA.

Outsider: Carla Berube, Princeton head coach. She will, of course, be a subject of conversation when her former coach eventually steps aside at UConn. But it's difficult to imagine that someone who was content enough at Division III Tufts to build a mini-dynasty and picked the Ivy League for her move to Division I will want any part of that particular spotlight. Succeeding VanDerveer is no less daunting, but Berube could take it on with the freedom of an outsider from the other side of the country. With a 542-105 record as a college player or head coach, mostly at elite academic schools, she would be a natural fit.

Anything is possible but her long track record at Tufts suggests that she does not jump around. UCONN would certainly be very attractive to her.

My understanding from insiders is that she is very happy with Princeton and the AD.

Time will tell. She can certainly coach!

Looks like Harvard got the more highly regarded Chicago area player to commit today with Louis Lesmond, a top 100 recruit committing to them as well today.

Here's a Chicago Sun-Times article on Blake Peters
https://chicago.suntimes.com/2020/6/13/21290284/bl ...

His Evanston team has won 88 games over the past 3 years, and he's hit nearly 300 3 pointers thus far in his career. His sophomore season he hit 114 3s at a 45% clip

Another article on Peters from his high school's student newspaper. Mentions that the entire team reached out within an hour of his commitment. Also interesting that he got his Princeton offer in May but says he chose to keep it private and didn't post it on social media like his other offers. Princeton currently has no offers listed for 2021, and wasn't listed on Peters' page at all before his commitment, which has been the case for quite a few recent commits.

Some other men's 2021s with reported interest from Princeton that I was able to gather on Twitter, trying to put together a similar list to what the Penn board has for 2021. For whatever reason it seems like very few recruits tweet out their Princeton offers, so almost no recruits show up on Verbal Commits which lists offers, but various reporters/AAU teams will tweet out interest at the very least. Overall this list is pretty wing/guard heavy, surprising given the depth behind Aririguzoh was pretty thin this past season. This is certainly not a complete list of targets, but could say something about the confidence the staff has in Evbuomwan, Kellman, and Hooks moving forward in the post.

https://twitter.com/jakelieberman2/status /12719289...

Kyle Frelow - 6'6" forward from Northridge, CA. Also has interest from Penn, Cornell, BU, Cal Poly, Northern Arizona, Pepperdine, and Oregon State

https://twitter.com/AdamZagoria/status/12 711878323...

Wesley Cardet Jr - 6-5 combo guard from Fort Lauderdale, FL. Looks like he would be a tough get, ranked as a 4-star with interest from Seton Hall and Rutgers, as well as numerous ACC/SEC programs

https://twitter.com/jakelieberman2/status /12704681...

Noah Harris - Guard from Somerset, NJ. Had an offer from Penn last summer but seems like they are not recruiting him as hard any more, as he lists Princeton, Marist, Lehigh, Drexel, and William and Mary as the schools recruiting him the hardest.

https://twitter.com/miller_report/status/ 126570936...

Ed Holland - 6'6 forward from Friends Central in Philadelphia. Has taken visits to Penn State, VCU, Penn, Princeton, Yale, Colgate, Rhode Island, Providence, La Salle, and Lehigh. Tweeted this past weekend that he plans to cut his list down on June 26th

https://twitter.com/njpanthersboys/status /12638149...

Christian Cevis - 6'0" guard from West Morris HS in NJ. Interest from Niagara, VMI, Lafayette, as well as non D1 Amherst and Gettysburg

https://twitter.com/WisBBYearbook/status/ 126327254...

Antuan Nesbitt - 6'5" guard from Racine, WI. Not many offers listed that I could find but put up huge numbers in Wisconsin as a junior (no idea on the level of competition)

https://twitter.com/WisBBYearbook/status/ 126348330...

Jayden Jackson - 6'3" guard from Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin. Has D1 offers as a Wide Receiver, as well as interest from Houston, Northern Arizona, Mount St. Mary's, North Dakota State, UMBC and Wisconsin.

https://twitter.com/CourtneyHoops90/statu s/1256997...

Reese McMullen - 6'3" guard from Memphis, TN. Also being recruited hard by Yale per this tweet, has offers from Dartmouth, Army, Holy Cross and Lipscomb

https://twitter.com/scoopmantv/status/125 411909929...

Ian Motta - 6'6" forward from Allen, TX. Offers from Air Force, Rice, UNC-Wilmington, Iona, and Navy. Interest from UTSA, Sam Houston State, Columbia, Incarnate Word, Louisiana Tech, Denver & Mercer

https://twitter.com/cnbroncosbball/status /12537941...

AK Okereke - 6'6" guard from Fresno, CA. Reportedly has Stanford interest

Brendan Terry - 6'7" forward from Santa Monica, CA. Interest from Yale, Stanford, UC San Diego, Cornell and Navy.

Chris Rubayo - 6'9" forward from Skillman, NJ. Offers from Lafayette, Army and New Hampshire.

MK Ashmore - 6'6" wing from North Broward, FL. Interest from Toledo, Miami-Ohio and Wofford

Agreed, Bhandal looks really good! Looks like he missed his entire sophomore season with an ankle injury which slowed down his recruitment considerably, but was fully healthy as a junior and played well for an Archbishop Mitty team that was ranked 6th in CA and won their Open Division section. He did officially pick up an offer from Army today, curious if Princeton will follow suit

Brian Snow of 247 Sports put in a Crystal Ball prediction (with a confidence level of 9) for Princeton to snag 2021 F Garrett Johnson out of Episcopal HS in Alexandria, VA. As 247's National Analyst, it seems like Snow's "predictions" usually come from sources in the know, evidenced by his 20/22 accuracy on 2021 prospects and 93% accuracy overall, so definitely a good sign for Princeton. All but 2 of his high confidence predictions have been proven accurate within a week of his prediction, so we should know pretty soon.

Johnson is a 3 star forward listed at 6-7, and holds offers from Yale, Penn, and Brown in the IL, along with Xavier, East Carolina, and a handful of A10 teams. As is tradition, Princeton is not listed on his Verbal Commits page, and there are all of 3 tweets that exist connecting him to Princeton, only 1 of which is in the past calendar year

Garrett Johnson has officially committed to Princeton! He picked Princeton over Elon, Xavier, UAB, Vermont, and Penn among other schools. 247 has Johnson as a 3 star recruit. His junior year highlight video is below. Per MaxPreps he averaged 18 points, 6 rebounds and 1 assist per game as a junior at Episcopal HS in Virginia. He took about 5 3's per game and made them at a 35% clip, and also made an impressive 92% of his FTs on 5 FT attempts per game as well

Garrett is a terrific player. I was hoping we (Yale) could pull him as I have been on the coaches about him.

But we offered late. and princeton staff did good work.

I know penn went after also and he was blowing up even in the covid summer. Anyway happy to see him in the IL. He is a big guard who can play multiple positions and is very athletic. Have seen many times as I am a big EHS fan and supporter.

Louis Hutchinson just transferred to IMG but princeton was early there also as there are multiple d1 options on that EHS team. They likely are still one of best squads in dmv though that transfer hurt.

Anyway Congrats!

Pretty impressive skill set for a high school player -- inside and outside game. It does look like the jump shot needs some work as to technique but he has tools.

Looks good. Not as scrawny as most HS juniors of his height. And a smooth stroke.

Princeton randomly appeared in the final cut list for top 100 4-star big man Ben Gregg, but he committed to Gonzaga this morning. Always interesting to see Princeton's name show up with no indication they were even involved here until the final list was announced

Ed Holland committed to Penn this afternoon. It sounds like his final four was Penn, Yale, Columbia, and Rhode Island

According to this article from an Oregon State site, Gakwasi was getting some interest from major programs like Oregon State, Stanford, and Santa Clara. Princeton seemed to be the only East Coast school on his list.

I like what I see on the video: great defensive insticts with quick hands, quick jumper for rebounds, and smooth stroke with no hitches on the 3-ball.

In another thread about Banghart's recruiting at UNC, this link was posted by rbg:

https://www.espn.com/womens-college-basket ball/sto...

I repost it here only to comment that it says Azzi Fudd is supposedly undecided and no schools are listed. So ... they're saying there's a chance...

Back to the UK for the Princeton staff after the success with Evbuomwan. Newbury's a 6'8" big with a 6'11" wingspan, He was ranked as the #7 UK player at the Deng Camp last summer before taking a prep year at Loomis Chaffee.

Highlights and a brief scouting report on his Deng Camp player page, where he was named a camp All-Star

Workout video of Newbury, who looks to have a little more shooting touch than I had thought (albeit against cones). Definitely one of the more intriguing recruits in this class, especially given the staff's success with Evbuomwan from the UK.

The trainer who posted the video has previously worked with Amir Bell and Richmond Aririguzoh in the offseason.

Well, that's disappointing. He looks like he has enormous potential.
