I was looking at the Detroit Pistons preseason game box scores. In addition to the starting 5, there were 16 reserves. Of those only 7 saw court time. Tosan has had court time (although only a minute or two) in both of those games. This is encouraging. He must be showing something in practice. It would be nice to see him get a two-way contract. |

In his G-League debut, Tosan started and had a double-double: 11p/11r/2b. Team high +20 in a win. Made 1-2 threes. Pretty good considering he just stood in the corner on offense. I know he's not going to be the primary ballhandler, but since it's G-League, why not let him try facilitating in short spurts? It's like Detroit didn't even watch his NCAA games. |

From the early returns, the Pistons seemed to love Tosan's defense and rebounding more than his offensive game. They seemed to want him to be enough of a scoring threat to keep defenses honest, but not to initiate much. That might change over time. |

Tosan picked up 7 assists (and 15pts) in 30min off the bench today - another win. I rifled through the ESPN+ replay and he got regular touches instead of standing in the corner all the time. Hopefully, the Pistons/Cruise are learning how good he is as a facilitator. |

Tosan had his best game yet: team-high 24p/5a/5r/2s in a big comeback win. One of his 2 threes was a late game-tying shot that he let go with no hesitation. I didn't see the game live but I skipped through it on the G-League's YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tlzrbf6SxoQ Four games in, Tosan looks a lot more comfortable already. He's learning how to play his style of ball despite fewer touches. He's putting up very good, efficient stats while his team is 4-0. If Tosan keeps this up, he'll make his NBA debut by season's end. |

I remembered that the Motor City Cruise played a couple of days ago and I looked to see how Tosan performed MY GOD!! 24 points on 10-13 shooting with 4 of 5 from 3. 17 rebounds and 4 assists. |

"We've had his name float around recently with major ball clubs. He's got a lot of eyes on him; some good things are in store for him." I'm guessing Tosan makes his NBA debut by season's end. If not for the Pistons, then for someone else. |

In last game, Tosan only had 11 points on 4-7 shooting, but had 14 rebounds, 6 assists and 3 blocks. The Motor City Cruise won. |

Yeah, I watched some of that one. His D was very impressive. Even more impressive was that the announcers pronounced his name correctly. They also said that when they brought up his name with the Cruise coach, he smiled. |

Evbuomwan — undrafted off Princeton’s Sweet 16 team — has averaged 15 points, 8.6 rebounds and 3.9 assists for the Motor City Cruise. Even if he doesn't stick with the Grizz, it's a great sign that he got promoted after half a season in G-League. So happy for him. |

6 more minutes during garbage time (well, the whole 4th quarter was extended garbage time). 1 more board and a turnover in a pretty awful 40 point loss. Memphis has double digit players on the injured list right now. |

Great to see him getting real minutes! 12 rebounds, including 7 offensive, in 29 minutes is really impressive. Obviously, 1-6 is rough but only 1 TO on a night where his team made 19 of them. Next assignment: score in double-digits. |

His single coverage defense on Tatum was elite, Celtics announcers even commented on it (although Tatum still scored a lot). Have to believe there's a place in the league for this sort of player. |

Didn't put up any noteworthy stats but he was +10 in 21 minutes. He's gonna earn his keep as a glue-guy defender, but it would be nice to see him have a good scoring game before his 10-day contract is up. I think he has 2 more games. |

He was pretty much a non factor tonight in somewhat limited minutes against the Bulls. Might have been his swan song. But credit the NBC Sports Chicago production crew and announcers Adam Amin and Stacey King. Tosan had one highlight, a nice block of Coby White under the basket. That was the excuse to essentially spend the next few minutes detailing his back story, including biographical details about his parents and how they met, and how longtime Bull Luol Deng was ultimately key in bringing Tosan’s profile to the attention of US collegiate programs as part of developing talent for basketball in Africa. |

Tosan on the floor for the last few minutes of the first quarter against the Knicks makes a really nice defensive stop on a player who then throws an awkward pass that leads to a turnover. Later he scores with a nifty hoop on a drive across the lane. Other times Piston players seem to be ignoring him standing wide open in the corner, almost like they are playing 4 against 5. |

He actually checked in (and made a layup) in the 3rd Quarter when the deficit was only 15. And I don't think you can blame him for the final score. Lordy, the Pistons are horribly coached. They can't execute a simple drive-and-kick or recognize a "mouse in the house" mismatch. Most of the team refuses to play defense, so there's that too. |

He can't be blamed for anything on that team. It's a royal mess. Most of his scoring came during rather extended garbage time. But at least he got in the game for a while. There have been any number of either DNPs or cameos of late. |

What' so interesting to watch is what teams value in G League performances. He wasn't in the top 50 in the G in PPG, there's guys going for 30+ regularly, but as the saying goes 'You cannot score your way out of the G". High motor role players who know why they're there seem to be valued the most and Tosan ticks all the boxes. Hope he gets a real contract next year. |

I've gone to some of the Westchester Knick games over the past couple of seasons. Interesting to see some of the guys who get called up, both for them and the teams they play. In some cases, scoring is definitely a very important criterion. |

11pts (4-7 FG) with 4rebs in his first NBA start. Finished nicely through contact a couple times. Didn't get to handle the ball, so 0 assists and 0 TOs. Pistons play junk ball and are tanking yet again, but it's still exciting to see a Tiger climbing the NBA ladder so quickly. Undrafted > G-League > 10-day > two-way > (injury-related) start. All in a year. With all the Pistons' injuries, he might get another start after tonight. |

14pts/8reb stat line is fine, but the game became garbage time midway through the 2Q, so it doesn't mean much. Best thing was that he missed his first 3 shots from deep... then swished his last two. He's really improving in that area. Tosan also had to defend Porzingis a ton and wasn't too successful, but that's not really on him - 7-2 jump shooters will do their thing. He did manage to avoid committing unnecessary fouls (that Princeton training). Baby steps forward. Gotta have a breakout game or two with this opportunity. Doesn't need to be Linsanity, but enough to make an impression going forward. |

No Tosan Evbuomwan tonight for Detroit vs Brooklyn, as he has reached the limit of playable games under a two-way. Monty Williams hopes to work with him in the summer, within the program. “I think he’s got a chance to be a rotation guy in the league” As awful as the Pistons were, Tosan looked increasingly comfy with each game. He was the glue guy in their year-end starting lineup - making the right pass, guarding multiple positions, shooting efficiently on his minimal touches. I can see him becoming a Kyle Anderson type, greasing the wheels for a team's stars. |

I guess that's part of the transition from PF/C in college to SF/PF in the NBA. He definitely looks more comfortable guarding wings than bigs. |
