I really hate the way the lower seeds can’t get neutral sites.
I don't like it either, but it's not going to change because of the economics of the women's tournament. It has traditionally lost money, and any first weekend bracket that is not played on the home court of a top seed will be played in front of an empty arena. Even the Regionals the next week don't draw well unless there is a local team in it.
Btw, one thing that I don't think has been mentioned is that the Bison women are assured an NIT berth if they don't win the PLT. Obviously winning the tournament is the objective, but an NIT berth isn't a terrible consolation prize. You may recall that the Bison won an NIT game in 2016, beating Akron on the road.
