Meanwhile, Bucknell isn't allowing visiting Fordham fans this weekend, which is a little embarrassing.
I am not embarrassed at all. Remember that all of Bucknell‘s teams have been one Covid test away from possibly being shut down. Further, back in mid-February there was a real danger that the entire school would be shut down and have to go remote because of Covid. Thus when they approved allowing a limited number of spectators at games, the objective was to keep everything very controlled.
Lehigh and Lafayette have rules very similar to Bucknell, where only a few spectators are allowed and none from the visiting team. Fordham and Colgate don’t allow any spectators at all. Georgetown opted to not even have football. Only holy cross allows a few family members from the visiting team to attend.
Bucknell’s attendance rules for football allow only a few family members per player - those who are following COVID protocols - plus some students/staff who are being frequently tested for COVID by Bucknell. The players’ family members are not allowed to get closer than 15 feet to any player or coach at any time before, during, or after the game, and families must be socially distanced at all times. Masks are mandatory at all times. Also no tailgating is allowed and no food is allowed inside the stadium. Family members are also not allowed to enter any buildings on campus.
