Reminds me of when I ran the schedule for our local little baseball league in the northeast. We scheduled over 50 games/week (on 4 fields!) starting in late March. Seemed the goal was to get as many played as possible so we’d reduce the amount of games we had to reschedule for when the weather and field conditions improved a month or two later.
Resulted in some teams having burdensome schedules in May/June, and of course everyone complained about something, but if you have enough open dates later for the rescheduling you get the games in and move on to the playoffs.
