All right--for those of you who, like me, don't believe a 60 year old coach in his prime is retiring for real, let me handicap the Jay Wright Open with the P38 odds on what really is happening here:
(a) He's telling the truth and really retiring to fund raise for Nova and spend more time with his family:
30-1
(b) He has an undisclosed health issue that he needs to deal with (hope this is not the case): 25-1
(c) He wants out from the dog eat dog world of college recruiting and has a strong broadcasting offer: 20-1
(d) He's next in line to take over from Coach K at USA Basketball and wants to put all his energies into that position: 15-1
(e) He has an offer he cannot refuse at a top college job, where a legacy coach is about to step down (e.g., Kansas): 10-1
(f) Ladies and Gents, your Next Coach of the Philadelphia 76ers: 1-1
