Cornell will play in Newman Arena for only the third time this year. The Big Red is tied with unbeaten James Madison for the most non-home court wins in D-1 with seven.
Cornell is a Top 50 offensive club in Quad-2. They are very entertaining to watch. I saw them in St. Augustine last month.
Like Cornell, Colgate is a Quad-2 team. Unlike Cornell, they already have a couple Quad-2 W’s, at Vermont and on a neutral court over Weber State. Coach Langel brings his team in looking for their second Ivy win of the year, with a two point home W over Brown, and losses at home to Harvard and at a neutral site to Yale. At the Dome, Colgate led Syracuse by 24 at the first media timeout of the second half, but ended up losing by 4. In their trip to Syracuse, the Red essentially never led, but stayed within striking distance the whole game, down three with the ball and 2:30 left, before losing by 11. Subpar 9-33 shooting from long distance was a major problem.
Though Colgate has been less consistent than the Red so far this year, the Raiders definitely have the talent to win this game. That being said, if both teams are on their respective games, on paper, this should be an entertaining, close game the Red has a good shot at winning.
