I read parts of the decision and was amazed at the judgeâ€™s approach, which started from her favorable impression of the admissions staff and used that to interpret the data rather than the other way around. Also at her astonishing (though mealy-mouthed) displacement of responsibility for the low â€œpersonalityâ€ scores the staff meted out to Asian-American applicants onto high-school teachers and guidance counselors, with a hint that perhaps these subjective score disparities were accurate.
