Here are a few scouting reports on her:

1. From May Big East Showcase: "Very nice showing, and a real impact player in spurts…Will face and drive some, but bread is buttered with her back to the basket and putting it on the floor…Footwork is good…A little old school sky hook runner…Not afraid to get physical" https://www.bluestarmedia.org/doing-it-big-in-the-...

2. From NJ Shore blog: Ashley Sofikanich of SJV: So Many Gifts . Excerpts:

"She is 6’4” with a wing span that defies logic. It’s also impossible not to notice her her when she walks in the gym. She has a presence and confidence that is rare in young tall females. She walks with a swag that should put fear in opposition."

"But Ashley Sofikanich is different than most girls her size. That’s because she is that rare tall athletic player. athletic, quick, and bouncy. If she was a 5’9” guard you would be impressed. She runs the floor like a guard. . . . Her quick jumping ability and timing for someone of her size just takes your breath away."

Looking just at a limited number of videos, it appears she has a better all-around offensive game than the centers who committed a few months ago (Sullivan 2022, Krag 2022, Fischer 2023). Her ability to handle the ball and run the floor should allow her to play the four, teaming up with one of the centers. Kind of like 6-3 Ellie Mack teaming up with Slagus or Brugler. It remains to be seen if the talent level can compare with these past combos, but Sofikanich appears to be a player who can play inside or out. I am trusting that the coaching staff saw a lot of her in AAU events and has a good view of her development path. If they didn't have an optimistic view, I doubt they would have made such an early offer - especially since it appears there was only one scholarship left for the 2023's.
