Yeah, the NIT is a flukey thing - it comes down to emotions and injuries more than talent. And without the edge in either category, the more athletic team won.
Although in each case those games were played at the seed's home site. And Princeton had not lost a game at home all year.
I wouldn't just chalk this up to athleticism. UNLV is a well coached team. A team with athletes but lousy coaching might not have fared as well tonight.
