The usual OOC struggles where the lineup is constantly juggled. Drexel 75 Loyola 62
Interesting to see if we actually have a crowd for a Fri night opener, my guess is no. Attendance 1200.

Drexel is a decent CAA team, the Hounds have the size and athleticism to match up with them, it will come down to execution. I think this will be a close game that the Hounds can win and would be a big momentum swing heading into the next home games vs. UMBC and Dartmouth that are both winnable. If I had to pick a score:
Drexel 72
Loyola 65

Would be great to start off teh season with a win, especially agaisnt a CAA team. Thinking optimistically, Loyola 76 Drexel 71. Realistically, Drexel 78 Loyola 69.
I' hoping Patsos doesnt sub too erratic and lets the players establish some flow within the game.

Drexel wins 75-72. Loyola dug themselves a big whole in the 1st half and could never fully recover. The shots just werent falling for the Hounds and hopefully that improves over the next few games. Barney led the way with 21 pts, Hall had 12 and Olson 11. The first 10 minutes of the game Loyola couldnt grab a rebound and Drexel couldnt miss a shot after that point Loyola controlled most of the game. Not a devastating loss but it would have been nice to win.
Loyola got in to some foul trouble early and that hurt and led to some lackluster defense. On the flip side it seemed like the Hounds got to the rim a fair amount as well.
Loyola gave up too many offensive boards in the 1st half and too many easy looks.

yeah, like i said on the other board.. rebounding was such a huge issue for me, the most glaring one that I saw.
Defense.. when we tried to go zone, so many guys seemed like they didnt know how to run it, and there were countless open looks, that needs to be addressed, offense looked alright, but looked like we gave up on the offensive plays too much and just tried to drive to the basket.
wiegand needs to learn the pick and roll better as well.. i remember one specific time when he was holding the pick for about 7 seconds and had he rolled, it would have been an easy bucket, not sure what was going on there... had i seen his minutes without seeing the game wouldve been urinated he played so much, but he's definitely an improved player, could eat up some minutes when our key big guys get in to foul trouble

Really wanted to get to the game and was mad that it didn't happen. Sounds like some things haven't changed, falling behind early and never getting out of the hole.

it was some classic Loyola basketball on Friday night. easy shots for Drexel. what seemed like a lot of second chance baskets for the other team. and the usual pass it around the perimeter offense that Patsos' teams love. It didn't help that they couldn't hit wide open shots. I did see more blocked shots in that game for Loyola than i can ever remember. and I give them credit for sticking in there and making it a game at the end. they should've brought Andre Collins back to take that last shot. Attendance was pretty good. Student section started out strong, but they faded away with the team. It was good to be back in Reitz.
