Winner-- I'll go with Wake although I do believe we have a legit shot to win this game. Wake has been vulnerable to a mid major upset the last couple years
Leading scorer-- Etherly, he will also lead in rebounds
Final Score-- Wake 74-64 I hope I'm wrong

Winner: Wake (it's their first game of the year, I believe, so they'll be ready and won't overlook.. as bad as they were last year, still an ACC school and been good leading up to last year)
Scorer: Cormier (I think McKie is too good down low and will not allow one of our big guys to be the leading scorer)
Final Score: Wake:80 Loyola: 68
Thing to note about Wake:
They got Nikita Mescheriakov on a transfer from Georgetown eligible to play this year (idk if you guys remember but we were actually close to getting Nikita before he went to G-town.. by G-town standards, he wasn't very good, but interesting to see him play the school he almost ended up at)

Just FYI over the last couple seasons Wake has lost to the likes of William & Mary, Stetson, Winthrop, UNC Wilmington, and Presbyterian. They lost to Stetson in last years opener.
In order to win though I think Cormier and Olson need to step up because like 11 said down low will be tough so our guards need to be good.

If Loyola is able to keep the final margin under 20, we should consider it a victory.

WF had two players kicked off the team that were contributors for them last year, one dui and the other a discipline problem, so I feel this is the best time to play them, so I predict. Loyola wins, 75-72, etherly 16pts latham and walker 9 boards each

I know that Wake isn't very good.. I do think this will be a close game, just disheartened by our defense after watching the team in the exhibition, not that it was that terrible... i just don't think it's good enough to upset the likes of Wake yet, even if they are a bottom ACC team,
bottom ACC team > D2 good team
my score prediction was more b/c I actually think the game will be close but Wake will pull away in the end due to intentional fouls/free throws and Loyola desperation misses
I just didn't see enough in the exhibition to believe that we could pull off the upset, but still excited for the year.

The line in Vegas is Wake -2. Loyola really should win this game outright.

Seriously? How bad can Wake be? They're an ACC school for crying out loud.

Loyola is looking to extend its winning streak vs Wake Forest to 3.
Last meeting: 1949 - We are 2-1 lifetime.
Deacons have not beaten the Hounds since before the bombing of Pearl Harbor. We own them!

Wake wins 75-63. The game was close all the way and was tied about half way through the 2nd half until the closing seconds. We missed some easy shots in the first half. The main reason we lost was FOULS. So many touch fouls 30+ feet from the basket both Cormier and Williams fouled out. Loyola had a legit chance to win this game but turnovers and fouls kept us from doing so. Positives were Cormier looked very good in the 1st half and Williams held his own. Ehterly played well too with a busted face. On to Coppin St. on Monday.
