Former player of mine at John Carroll, 6'6 wing forward Jarred Jones has committed to play for Loyola next year. Versatile statsheet stuffer, great on-ball defender. Was second team All-Metro in Baltimore last year as a junior. Leading scorer and rebounder on the team this season. Great kid and family, congrats to him and Loyola.

I've read he can play soft at times do you think he can contribute next year or will it take him a year or two to adjust to the college game? I love that Jimmy is getting local players though it can only help us down the line. Our entire recruiting class next year is from Balt/Wash area.

Jarred is not soft, definite a face-the-basket wing who can post and not the other way around. Not sure if he can help next year or not, because to be honest I have not really watched Loyola this year, and I have only seen Jarred once this season in a game where he was in foul trouble early.

Jones had 27 points last night as John Carroll beat MIAA "A" Conference rival Glenelg Country in double overtime, 69-65.

He's averaging around 15 points, 7 rebounds and 3 steals per game and shooting around 49% from the floor for the season.

MacDog...speaking of John Carroll, did you ever coach Mike Owona?
I'm just curious if he's Loyola/MAAC level talent.

He arrived after I left. He has lots of raw potential but is struggling to take the next big step.

Jimmy and his staff work the Balto/Wash kids hard which is a great strategy by them. Still not happy with how Jimmy manages game time but you can't question his ability to sell the program to recruits

A kid with John Carrol bball jacket and his family were sitting next to me, but he did not look like he was 6'6
