well....this is the best news in the article...

"This is Penn's year as the home team, but an Atlantic City area promoter has been interested in scheduling a Villanova game in town, Nicastro said, and Dunphy at least is considering it. Should the game come off, Penn likely would get its home game back next year."

So if we get the home game back next year, I'm all in favor of this little promotion. Road trip to AC anyone?

I dunno....there's something about having a top 5 team opening the season in the Palestra that would generate a ton of excitement on campus and draw people the the Palestra...

Well obviously this game would be a hit at the Palestra if it happens there. And what I should have said in my last post is that IF they are dead set on having the game in AC, since we won't lose our home game for next year then I'm in favor of it.

But what I also should have said is that I agree with you that if I had to make the choice, I'd keep it at the Palestra. Not necessarily because of Villanova's Top 5 status or what that will mean for attendance, but because it is a Big 5 game and they all belong at the Palestra.

We complain and complain about opening the season against the Quinipiacs of the world, and how it starts us off on the wrong foot...and then we have the chance to host a game that is both a)against a big 5 team and b)against a top 5 team (both of which would fill the Palestra) and we're going to give it up?? This is FAR FAR FAR more ridiculous to me than passing up a chance to play Duke at the Wachovia Center.

How about the AC game in exchange for Reggie Redding?

And it's a Palestra game against a top-ranked Big 5 team during the 50th anniversary season of the Big 5. I dunno. Let the promoter wait till next year.
