Now that we're into the offseason, it's time to talk about an overdue upgrade to these boards. The current software is old, buggy, and a security risk.

We have a couple of options:

1. Pick an established message board software and migrate to that.

2. Design our own unique solution.

I wanted to open the discussion about what you'd like to see in the next message board software. Please reply and tell us what you'd really like to see out of the next generation boards here.

Thanks for this. One thing I'd like to see is the ability to post pictures. Also a way to post stats in a formatted way so that they line up.

If you can get rid of the annoying Amazon gift card pop ups, that would be a win!

Thanks for reaching out.

Definitely. That redirect hijacking is a good illustration of the security flaws of this current software.

Automatic insertion of a tweet when you post a tweet's URL. (In other words, readers see the full, formatted tweet, including photos, without having to click on the url and go to Twitter in a new window)

Same thing for YouTube videos. If you post a YouTube url, it should automatically post a window where readers can view the video without leaving your site.

A password reset process that works. I went several days being unable to resetmy password. Ultimately had to create a new id and lose my status and history files to unkown status.

I like a lot of what the board has, but I certainly miss the chat room for in game discussions.

Atlanta, I could not agree more. That was a lot of fun 2005-2010ish.

Fourth on the chat room. I also like the “like” button for a post. I suppose it would be nice to view photos/read tweets within the program.

Beware tapatalk. Pards and Gate forced into that format when voy boards were deep sixed. I like open board format without divisions into various topics.

HC hoops attendance is better than most. Also, both schools seem to follow a sport called 'football'. It is played at Bucknell in the stadium to crowds significantly smaller than those in Easton and Worcester.

What is this 'football' of which you speak?

As I came onto the site yesterday through the PL page to get to the Bucknell forum Chrome gave me a red screen, warning of 'attackers' on the PL page and sent me back 'to safety'. I was able to come in directly without incident.

What's the status of this shift?

Since it appears that Basketball U is not going to provide us a chat room, I propose that we take advantage of one of the many free chat room sites and create a Bucknell Bison Chat Room.

Does anybody have a recommendation?

An off the wall recommendation would be something I’m very new to. It’s called discord. Its practically a messaging service but you must be granted access to be able to chat in the group. I know there’s an app, not sure how fluid the website is.

If we use WhatsApp, correct me if I am wrong, but we would all have to reveal out true identities. I'm fine with that, but who are you really, NoMoney89?

For the past two weeks I have rarely been able to connect with this page. Was it down? My various platforms all failed.

Of course it was while we were losing a pair in men's hoops...

It was clear to me that other people were connecting. It might have been my VPN set-up. Still, that shouldn't have been the issue, as it wasn't in the past.

Oh boy, the “board software upgrade” is now three years underway! Just imagine the countless groundbreaking features being perfected at basketball-u.com’s secret subterranean R&D facility even as I type!!!

I would love to be able to share photos and have a chatboard during games like we used to have. Somehow, I don't see either happening.
