In a typical example of the Patriot Leagu'e GROSS INCOMPETENCE, they just this second announced the rest of the tournament is cancelled. That is a decision that could easily have been made last night - but the buffoons running the league hemmed and hawed until many people had already traveled to the site.

In fairness, I don't think anyone saw a reason to cancel if the PIAA was going to continue with the swim meet. When the PIAA decided at noon today to cancel the rest of the meet, it made the decision easier (though very inconvenient for those who made the trip, including the HC team & fans).

Yes, it gave them move cover for the cancellation - but no more reason to cancel. Nothing has changed since last night. The PL has never been known for competence.

Yes, but it seems as if the Patriot League, not Bucknell made the call.
Now this brings up an interesting question regarding Ellie Mack, as she does have a year of eligibility. Just sayin'

I would HOPE Bucknell would relax their policy on 5th year athletes, at least for spring sports. It would be terrific to have Ellie back for a 5th year if she's interested. B137 can confirm, but I think they still have one scholarship they're holding.
I know coaches are already encouraging spring sport athletes who already plan to go to grad school elsewhere to enter the transfer portal.

With all respect to 137 and the rest of the posters, I think "gross incompetence" and other complaints about the Patriot League is totally unfair. We are operating under circumstances no one, even a week ago, would have imagined. To single out the PL is stupid, as a lot more can be said about other organizations, like the NCAA, which is far bigger and more encompassing than the PL, who I believe were even less prepared for what happened. I know we are all upset about what has happened, and feel sorry for the students, parents, university - the list is too long to complete. But in the end, the right things are being done. And really, in the grand scheme of things, a lot worse things are happening to people across the country that make college sports pale in comparison. Let's all pitch in, help one another, and we will get through this eventually. The time to discuss and worry about college sports is after we conquer this virus and the rest of the problems in the country begin to heal.

1. There is absolutely no reason t gf hat a decision That was made at 2 PM could not have been made at 10 AM before many people traveled to Lewisburg. In the patriot league, no one can make a decision.
2. I have seen many many examples of gross incompetence. I would not have used the term if this was the first time. As an example look back to the end of softball season last year when the league let Boston University steal a championship and the #1 seed in softball by going home without permission. There is a reason why a number of patriot league administrators treat the league with disdain.

The incremental way in which the decisions were made is unfortunate. When PL says the basketball was up to the involved institutions and then reverses that position and cancels, it makes one wonder about competence. HC was in town over Wed night and could have played without spectators if needed. Why did PL give Bucknell/HolyCross the power to decide and take it away hours later? And 137 is right as to question the time lag...I know people who were told the game was on in the morning and had begun the trip on Thursday before learning of the cancellation at 1:50.

Good article about the end of the women's season in the Daily Item. Coach Woodruff has declared the Bison national champions. I agree!

One of the Wilkes Barre-Scranton TV stations interviewed Trevor Woodruff today. Among other things, he mentions that Ellie Mack has entered the transfer portal. I don't know how serious she is about playing a 5th year, but it would have been nice if Bucknell would have given her the option.

I would have been more than nice. It would have been great for the team but also the ethical thing to do given the way their season ended. She will contribute wherever she goes, but could land with a pretty good team.

Story on Marly Walls' injury and rehab:
https://www.dailyitem.com/sports/local_sports/w all...
She tore both the ACL and MCL. Rehab is more difficult due to the lockdown. Hopefully she will be ready to play in November, but that is not a certainty. Marly is a key player for the Bison.
