Tomorrow afternoon in the Palestra. La Salle seems to be significantly improved from last year, with a record of 8-3. They were 2-10 at the same point last year. They don't have any big wins, but also have no bad losses (only Villanova, Temple, and Penn).

Kenpom has them at 152 which is solid.
I plan to go with my sons, any excuse to go to the Palestra for a game!

I was really looking forward to seeing this game at the Palestra...I’ve never been. However it appears it will not work out as we are seeing friends we haven’t seen in a while. I suppose we could’ve juggled some things but to be honest, until this team does something to change things, I’m just not as excited to watch them play this season. And this seems to be a very difficult game for the Bison (but to be honest, they will all be difficult this season.) I hope they play their best game of the season and pull one out, but alas we will not be there.

I couldn't resist the allure of the Palestra, but have to admit the 2 days of eating and drinking in Philly without the kids have moved way up in the ranking of what I'm looking forward to this weekend over the past month. Still hopeful the boys have a surprise in store for tomorrow.
Also still puzzled why Spear got zero run against Siena while we were getting torn up inside. Unreported injury? Discipline issue? Just seems strange Big Timms gets a shot before him.

9 turnovers in 13 minutes. The Breakin’ Bison look like the Broken Bison.

I wish this team would begin showing something that would instill hope for consistent improvement. Every game seems the same as the last. Poor shooting, stretches of terrible defense, turnovers, allowing opposition big runs...

An inept defense coupled with a poorly-designed offensive scheme and a ton of turnovers. Not a recipe for success.

Seen this movie before. We will make a run in the second half. Get within 4 or 6, fall short, lose by 15. Hope they prove me wrong.

I find it amazing that when a team is in your pants this close we can’t get a backdoor layup. I find it more amazing that we don’t even seem to try or care that we don’t try. What is the point of putting in WE? He stands almost off the court, accepts a pass and as soon as he catches it skips it back to someone else immediately. That was his third drive of the year! It’s not for defense clearly.

To me, Ellis is one-dimensional. He is supposed to be able to shoot the 3, but he hasn’t really been doing that. He apparently has little ability to drive the ball or create space for himself. He also doesn’t appear to be very good on defense. But there seems to be many holes in this roster. There is quite a bit of experience in the top 7-8 players yet improvement is just not there.

No halftime adjustments. Same old, same old. LaSalle fights through just about every pick. We switch and have mismatches.
I hate to say this, but 1. They have more talent, and 2. They hustle more. Overall, LaSalle is making things happen, and the Bison are looking for things to happen.
Is this a poorly coached team?

I confess that I was one of the two Nattering Nabobs of Negativism who guessed that we would only win 3-4 OOC games. I sorely wish I was wrong, but I had two big concerns going into the season. First, the OOC schedule itself was challenging. Second, at least out of the gate I felt we were lacking the sort of go-to difference maker we’ve always seemed to have, who could get us over the top in the close games. I’m not a pessimist, and I still have hope that we’ll be competitive in the league despite the expected tough competition.

I was confused with some of Davis’ comments to Birdsong after the game. On one hand, he said his players showed strong concentration the entire game but then lamented the high number of turnover, many of which were unforced. So, how can you have great concentration but yet have careless turnovers? I know Jimmy had a boatload of turnovers, but he was one of the only guys to step up offensively this game, primarily in the 2nd half. I keep hearing Davis and Flannery day how talented these players are offensively and that they aren’t worried, but I have seen a lot of bad offense this year. Maybe they should kick in the explosive part soon.

Yeah, a lot of the turnovers were careless ones. Appeared concentration was often low. Sotos obviously is turning the ball over too much, but as you say, he has been the best offensive player by a goodly margin. May be trying to do too much with his passes.
As for the offense stepping up, the good news is that PL play now begins. All ten PL teams are below average defensive teams - all but Navy way below average - so that should help. Also the league really only has about three shot blockers: Lafayette's Good, who only plays 11 mpg; Loyola's Holcombe, who only plays 17 mpg; and Lehigh's Karnik, who plays a lot. It will be much easier to score inside in PL play than it was today, where the Bison found it almost impossible to finish at the rim versus La Salle's long, athletic players. Only four shots were blocked but a number of others were altered. In PL play, that might have been eight more baskets with the same opportunities.

Did not see your post on City of Brotherly Love, so I'll leave it where it is. But I hafta say we are lacking, so far, that one (or more) player who can win a game for us?
Senior Avi, Junior Jimmy and Sophomore Andrew show flashes, but not enough unless all three are hitting. That didn't happen tonight. At least three teams in Patriot are showing signs of ability to beat Bucknell twice this season, so unless improvement comes quickly, Bucknell looking at a disappointing .500 season?
And Bucknell recruiting really needs an infusion of talent for next year!

Watching HC (presumptively the worst team in the PL) playing Siena much more competitively than we did. Nowhere near the problem we had with Burns
