Tough to walk away without a win, but not sure how anyone watches that last 8 minutes down multiple key players and doesn't come away at least somewhat optimistic about what the rest of the season can bring.
IMO Walter Ellis answered a lot of critics tonight - really good defense and shots started to fall. Spear being out of the doghouse is paying dividends. Rice picking up the slack for Avi and Jimmy.

Kudos to Ellis, Spear and Rice. Xander has really settled down after struggling with the physicality in OOC. Very good foot speed. Kudos to ND on the confidence he put in Ellis...I couldn’t believe it when he walked out, which shows what I know. Can’t understand the past and present decisions (tonight) with respect to playing AT and MR (two really rough freshman) before Spear in the 5 spot...and I like Rhodes (despite the obvious liabilities). Avi’s basketball IQ was off all night and Jimmy obviously struggled.
Proud of the guys. So many lapses I could point out but it doesn’t give us 2 more points so I’ll spare everyone the grief.
Not sure what AR was thinking in leaving Nelson....that was criminal, but as someone said previously “freshman mistakeâ€...Hope Bob Hurley Sr. and daddy were watching other games!!
On a separate note, parents from HC lost a daughter today...can’t put into words how cruel life can be and I wish them all of the peace they can possibly find. I hope they have other children which may offer some sense of sanity and solace.
Peace to the coaching staff and the kids for a real good effort. Safe home to everybody.

Jimmy should have hacked Nelson on the next to last play when he shook Ellis on the initial penetration...that was too easy

Nitlion I’ve got to be honest. More PL games than not are ugly to watch.

Then watch UoK, Baylor & WVU...throw in Western Kentucky. TCU and Ok State as well...once properly excited you can switch over and upgrade to the Hawks, Knicks, Cavs and Lakers! 😂

Watching the replay, the Bison were in M2M and Sotos originally had Nelson. Looked like Sotos backed off him to help and Rice hedged to slow Nelson down then ran back to the man he was originally covering.
Unfortunately, when Sotos went back to recover he too ran to Rice's man which left Nelson open for the final shot.

You got it...incumbent on Rice to stay on the ball given court position, score, game clock...good effort...time to get ready for Sat! Sotos should be feeling better and Funk will be back and potentially Bruce...season goes on

Official attendance was 683. The Bucknell women's game was 805.

Does the team get flu shots, or are they at least offered, or are the players on their own in that regard?
Team all was given flu shots a couple months ago. The problem is that flu shots, depending on the year, are at best only about 50% effective. Last year they were only 29% effective.

The broader question is what is it with northeastern midmajor basketball. Only a handful of northeastern midmajors have good attendance. Over the past five or ten years, Bucknell has been third among all of them, trailing only Siena and Penn, both of whom are special cases.
Median attendance for the other northeastern midmajor conrerences:
MAAC 1384
America East 1187
Ivy League 1169
NEC 916
And look at Northeastern, which is a huge school that has been very successful in basketball in recent years. Last year they average 1117 fans per game.

Dr. Bison137, are you really an M.D.? I've been wondering what you do for several years.

Not a doctor - and didn't even stay in a Holiday Inn Express. But the CDC publishes extensive stats every year on how effective the vaccine has been. While it's a lot better than nothing, many in the general population seem to think that if they get the shot then they won't get the flu. And that is not the case. But in addition to reducing one's risk by perhaps 50%, there is also some evidence that having had the shot may reduce the severity if one does get the flu.
