I know it probably been answered but I couldn’t find it. Why is this game being played at 11 AM? Is it part of a youth day at Army?

Yes, community day. If it's anything like the one Lafayette just held should be a good atmosphere.

Men's Basketball Heads to West Point for Brunchtime Game
It will be interesting to see what kind of attendance Army gets for its Education Day. Many PL teams have succeeded in drawing 1200-1500 for women's games - but there haven't been as many men's games with 11 AM starts. Army did draw about 1350 for an Education Day men's game vs Lafayette two years ago.

Most college students would not do well with an 11:00am tip off

True, which gives Army an advantage. Their players routinely are required to be up before 6:30 AM.

Don't feel great about this one. Might be Tommy's last chance to beat his little brother's team, so he'll be on a mission.

I don’t feel good about it either. The last four games against Army have been decided by two points or less or in overtime. And today we have a game on Army’s home floor featuring a hot army team vs the worst Buchnell team in 12 years.

So far Army’s 6-9 Matt Wilson has ended up with a Bison guard on him due to totally unnecessary automatic switches. There is a reason why good teams don’t automatically switch nearly as often as the Bison do.

Bottom line: if you don’t make shots, you lose. This is a 9-9 team.

Looking at stats alone, turnovers and bad shooting were major problems again. Hoping to hit a lot of 3’s is not a great strategy. Just an average to below average PL team this year.

63, I am concerned that 9-9 might be a stretch. The team lacks so much in many ways. The lack of upper class leadership again today. Jimmy seems to be regressing his assist to turnover ratio is poor. The teams assist to turnover ratio is poor in general. Meeks is out there with the flu and pits the team on his back. I just don’t understand why the seniors are not doing more. Did some of the team pack it in??? I feel there is better talent than what is showing ... 137 do you agree with any of this?

Why does Davis not use timeouts in crunch time? I know this frustrates a lot of people.

Lack of leadership.
Lack of consistent shot makers.
Lack of coaching at times.
Lack of focus every play.
This is just a different Bucknell team than any other I’ve seen. Going by appearances only, it seems many are content with what is happening. Seems late in the season for a team’s identity to dramatically change, but I think there has to be some kind of change moving forward. They still have a chance to be on top 4.

Yes, they do have a shot at top four - and I will be rooting for them. However based on what I see on the court, I think 7th place is more likely than top four. Hope it changes.

The Bison btw now rank 287th in the nation in defensive against two-point FG's - their worst performance in that category in team history. And they rank 302nd in the ratio of FT's to FGA's, meaning teams are able to drive on them or get the ball into the paint, and the defenders are fouling a lot. That is the worst Bucknell has ranked in that category since Pomeroy started keeping stats 20 years ago. Probably the worst in a lot longer than that.

I went to the game today and the whole event felt a little off. In pregame warmups the majority of shots were off. The team went back to the locker room and army made their entrance to fanfare and flashing lights at about 10 minutes before game time. But the Bison were no where to be found. It wasn’t until after it looked like SID Jon Terry hurried back to the locker area that the team finally came out with less than 3 minutes before the horn. They seemed hurried and out of sorts.
The addition of the school groups (7 different schools, elementary, and middle schools had their entire student bodies there) made for loud screams at times but other times I think they weren’t following the game and more excited about being on line for snacks in the one concession stand that was open. As my buddy commented sounds more like a Jonas Brothers concert (those of you with teenage daughters might get that reference) than a basketball game. But it was the fullest (2/3-3/4) that I have ever seen Christl Arena.
I really thought when we had tied it late in the game that we could figure out a way to win. But as it’s been said above, we didn’t have horsepower today to close it out.

One other point of note is that Army was woeful from beyond the arc today, going 3-18 - with many of the shots open ones. Unfortunately for Bucknell, Army also went 23-41 on twos - with their starters hitting 23-37 (62.2%).

Sotos continues to look off - a step or two slower and can't get to the basket recently. Xander who was playing so well and within the flow of the game at the start of PL play has now started jacking up 3s. Not sure he played a single minute in the 2nd half. Continued dumb fouls by Bruce putting him on the bench the majority of the first half.
Full credit to Tommy Funk and Wilson who deserved a win against us to cap their careers. They've been close a number of times and we've been fortunate to pull them out. This year's team is just not going to get over the top.

I’ve heard it said good coaches can make chicken salad out of chicken sh$&. This has not been a good coaching job this year.
