Also, to all the Penn fans praying that they play Yale in the tournament because they think that game will be easy: be careful what you wish for, because you just might get it. Perhaps Penn will get yet another ludicrous shooting night from three from a guy who historically doesn't shoot well, but I maybe wouldn't wanna bank on that.
(Granted, I'd still rather play Yale on a neutral court than Harvard at home given the chance, but I also wouldn't view 18 points from Eddie Scott, 75% 3P shooting from Brodeur, or the single best game of Devon Goodman's career as replicable.)

You're just ignoring the first game? For the majority of 2 games, Penn outplayed Yale. But no Penn fan is looking at it as an easy game. But among the 4, Penn matches up best with Yale and on a neutral court, I like Penn's chances.

He’s also ignoring that Yale shot better from 3 than Penn did. And Monroe isn’t going to repeat his performance either. No games in the ILT are easy.

Yale doesn’t care who they play in their tourney but penn fans are excited to play Yale.
Makes me feel better about what is an undoubtedly tough matchup but really no different than the other 3
Princeton showed me something 2nd half so who cares who yale plays it will be a war.
Hopefully we can pull a rabbit out of the hat next weekend

Interesting that you referred to Yale on the one hand and Penn fans on the other. Which made me think....what do you think will be the crowd makeup in that band box for a Yale-Penn game? Has Yale sold out its allotment?

I'm not at all ignoring the first game - that's the one where Brodeur and Eddie Scott massively overperformed in certain aspects. Do you think Swain will have as poor of a game as he had yesterday again (if we're asking to ding Monroe)? Penn is on the whole a poor three-point-shooting team that had its two best shooting performances of the conference season against Yale. Maybe that'll happen again, I don't know. Maybe it's due to matchup issues. But on my part, I don't think there's going to be an easy game to be found in the ILT.
EDIT: just noticed "he's ignoring that Yale shot better than Penn." Yes, because that's what we'd expect given their performances this season. Yale's got the best 3P% in conference play of 38.3%. Penn is shooting 29.5% in conference play.

Need to beat 2 of the other 3 Ivy tournament participants to succeed. Does it really matter much who you play first? I would have suggested a week ago that it does because Harvard had the most depth and was best positioned at home for the Sunday game, but without Juzang that isn't so true any more.

The only "overperformance" by AJ was hitting a couple of 3s. Other than that, it was very much a typical outing for him.

Fully agreed. I wouldn't be licking my chops to play any of the teams in the ILT - nothing will come easy.
On a side note, I think this is the longest Yale thread on the board in quite some time. Glad to see people talking about the Bulldogs!

Yale is on spring break. In Boston it might have an alum crowd.
Certainly did in philly ‘15 and every road game in a metro area last few yrs.
the band is silly but fun. but not like the jack legs at penn who take it seriously

An end for us. Bryce and Seth will be playing elsewhere. Could be interesting.

Wait, what? He labels Lavietes a band box and you actually think he was talking about ... the bands?
[Not to mention the idiocy of accusing the Penn Band of taking anything seriously.]

The youngsters don't watch baseball and thus have no knowledge of baseball terms, it seems.
Although the days of the Penn Marching 101 running from the 4 corners of the field and colliding in the middle seems sadly deep in the past in terms of silliness.

Just for the record, I don't think there is a single Penn fan that thinks playing a top 50 Yale squad will be "easy" if we are able to make the ILT.
Hell, I'd venture all of us are most worried about just making the damn thing. It's not a lock yet and this team has what we can most nicely call "unbalanced" results or not nicely call some really nice wins and some really crap losses. I like our chances, but A LOT of work left this coming weekend.
If we are so lucky, then I think neutral match up with Yale is interesting, but definitely not easy. No one who saw that disastrous collapse could think it would be easy unless they are high on some really good stuff.
It's more a case of 1) Princeton totally eating our lunch this year so no one has confidence at all in that matchup, and 2) it is ideally better not to play the home team in Harvard. Penn would be clear underdog against Yale, but maybe we could have a punchers chance.
Hope we are lucky enough to get the opportunity and then you never know how it will play out (good or bad).
