I’m sorry friends. I was being sarcastic. I’m embarrassed for the Patriot League in some ways. None of the data support these kind of precautions for the demographic of highly fit 18-24 year olds. It’s really dumbfounding and I hope it doesn’t hurt recruiting.

Totally agree. If there are no positive cases within the programs they should be allowed to practice and play, regardless of what the situation is with the student body. One can only imagine how frustrating, let alone heartbreaking this is for the student athletes who have sacrificed so much and made the commitment to be D1 athletes. And what about the coaches and there staffs. Apparently the administrative leadership and leader at BU think they know more than all the others. Guess we at BU have to “pretend” we are like the Ivies, better than the rest.

I also share your concern with recruiting as well as transfers.

Pa has been playing all Winter sports, Basketball, wrestling, Swimming, Volleyball, played Fall and I would expect, Spring outdoor sports would all happen. State Championships have all also gone on, sometimes is a different Venue, for example Bucknell is not hosting PIAA Swimming, moved to a high school facility.

It should be noted that PA has not been playing normal schedules in any sport. The earliest start date for any winter sport, for example, was January. Thus teams either have played a lot less games or else barely practiced. Lewisburg HS basketball, for example, is playing more games than they are having practices. Fun for the kids, I guess, but the product must be poor and player development has to be low.

As for swimming, they did have a lot of discussions with the PIAA about hosting but there were a couple of insurmountable obstacles related to the vast number of people who attend the event. First, under PA state social distancing rules, the Bucknell facility couldn't begin to accommodate all of the spectators. Normally they manage by only allowing relatives of kids swimming in a given event to be in the spectator area while everyone else is sequestered in Sojka (or Davis Gym). But even that wouldn't have worked this year. Secondly, the state meet is always held during the Bucknell spring break. But this year there is no spring break and thus thousands of cars on campus. The traffic/parking issues would have been about like pre-covid Manhattan at 5 PM on a Friday. I'm not sure but I think there may also have been an issue with Bucknell possibly being possibly legally liable if there was a covid outbreak - a distinct possibility with that many people herded together - many of them older adults.

Remi Sisselman this afternoon went off for 39 points in a 56-46 win over Smithtown West. She was 13-27 from the field, including six threes. She had all 16 of her team's points in the final quarter.

"She had some good looks and we live and die with her shooting," Half Hollow Hills East coach Adam Cirnigliaro said. "Remi has earned that respect. The defense usually sends two players to cover her or they use a box-and-one. She's used to shooting off the dribble."

Remi Sisselman made 1st team All-Long Island and was LI’s POY.

“Remi Sisselman had the attention of every opponent Half Hollow Hills East played this season. She drew double- and even triple-teams to contest every shot she took.

"Teams had to game-plan to slow her down or it was game over," Hills East coach Adam Cirnigliaro said. "She could take over a game. Remi was a pure talent in every facet of the game. She made everyone around her a better player. She was a leader at all times and made us a playoff contender."

Sisselman had a shooter’s quick release and could find the bottom of the net for multiple three-pointers from WNBA range. She averaged a Suffolk-best 27 points per game. The two-time All-Long Island first-team selection also led the Thunderbirds over Longwood, which captured the Division I title, during the regular season. Sisselman also averaged 11 rebounds and four assists per game.”

The young players are going to have to really step up to maintain the level of play we're used to. They didn't get much experience this year. Looks like there is lots of potential though.

A lot of potential, but unfortunately Krsul is the only post player. And she is only 6-1.
