Richmond football, men's basketball, and women's basketball reported back to campus today. Women's staff is still exactly the same as the one Roussell assembled at Bucknell.
It seems Richmond and its leagues are treating covid a lot different than the PL.

So much for that, at least as it applies to football.

Let me clarify, the CAA has cancelled the conference football season. Teams are left to make their own schedules if they choose.

Which presumably means individual CAA schools can opt to play each other if they choose.

This past weekend, Mrs. Bison89 and I dropped off our younger son at University of Alabama for his Freshman year. I was happy to hear that they required each student to be tested for COVID-19 and supply the test results to the school via a portal. There are free testing sites on campus for those who lack the funds to pay for one. Also, RA's, professors, and campus security are actively enforcing mask wearing requirements even when walking outside.
Students are living on campus. Most of his classes are online or in-person (your choice). He went to his first Bio class yesterday, and out of about 75 students only 2 attended in-person. He was 1 of the 2.
He was really looking forward to going to football games, but he told me that stadium capacity is limited to only 20%. So, it looks like major donors and family members will be the only people in the stands.
It is definitely a different world!

I like the fact that his staff portrait on the St Joes website is still the one from the Bison in the Orange and Blue

Not sure how realistic this is of happening but all the ACC programs are in favor of having all division one teams in this seasons NCAA tournament.

That is very interesting. I very seriously doubt that it will happen. If I had to pull out my crystal ball and guess, I think that it might be a 32 team tournament or smaller.
BTW, on a completely different topic, I was talking with a family friend who plays football at CAA school. They are being told that there might be an 8 game spring season with Seniors being given an extra year of NCAA eligibility to come back next year.

Looks like the Big 10 has reversed its decision and will be playing football games starting October 23rd. Can you say M-O-N-E-Y?

I was watching NBC Sport Philadelphia this morning when they started talking about ex-Temple HC Matt Rhule getting his first NFL win at Carolina. All of a sudden, they zoomed in on Ed Foley who was leading a rousing rendition of "Sweet Caroline" in their post game locker room. Good to see that Ed is an Assistant Coach in the NFL. Congratulations, Ed!!!

That's funny, thanks for posting. For those who may be wondering, Ed was a class of '89 (I think) Bison football player.

â€Ohio State applied for an immediate eligibility waiver for Jimmy Sotos, a transfer from Bucknell. Holtmann said the program hasn’t heard back yet from the NCAA about approval or denial.
“We're thin at the perimeter positions,†Holtmann said. “We have put in a waiver for Jimmy Sotos, but we don't have a word on that.â€â€

Ohio State’s starting point guard, CJ Walker, is a fifth year senior. It appears that Ohio State wants to get Sotos cleared for immediate eligibility just as a insurance policy, where he could step in and start if Walker got injured but could take a redshirt if he weren’t desperately needed. If Walker stays healthy, then Sotos would use his final year of eligibility in 2021-22.

Check out the Colonial Athletic Association's approach to their league schedule:
"In lieu of a traditional, home-and-home round robin schedule, teams will play against the same opponent at the same site on consecutive days, primarily Saturdays and Sundays.
The only exception will come when teams face their designated travel partner. On those weekends, each team will play once at home and once on the road, with flexibility given to create a day off in between contests.
The schedules mirror one another, with the men’s and women’s teams each facing the same opponent at opposite venues."
