NCAA should just let all players be eligible and move on.

Phillie, I understand what you are saying. My concern is that this could open a flood gate with Power Conference schools poaching players from the PL, Ivy, etc. Yes, it already happens, but it could become much more common.

I do not have all information, obviously, but it seems so arbitrary. For this season, I think they should allow all transfers already in place be eligible.

George Mason's upcoming game against Maryland was cancelled because of a positive COVID test at GM.

Army ended up losing a close game to Florida, but they are off to a surprising 3-1 start that includes a win over Buffalo. They are starting freshmen at PG and at center. The center is a true freshman, i.e. one who did not do a redshirt year at MAPS. Army may be a lot better than most expected, given that they had lost two All-PL players: 1st teamer PG Tommy Funk and 2nd teamer center Matt Wilson.

With the new transfer rule now in effect, Kahliel Spear made his RMU debut tonight in a 20-point home loss to Bowling Green. Wasn't an auspicious debut, as he had two turnovers, two personal fouls, and one rebound in four minutes. No other stats. Played two minutes fairly early in each half.

Jay Wright tested positive for COVID-19. Nova's season is on hold. I imagine that all of the players have been exposed to him.

NIT is 16 teams this year with no automatic qualifiers. So no NIT for Navy if they stumble in the league tourney.

Binghamton announced they aren't renewing Tommy Dempsey's contract. Not a big surprise given their poor record and lack of improvement in his tenure.
They've promoted an assistant as interim HC pending a full search in Spring 2022. Initial article I read indicated other coaches on staff were expected to be retained for now too which still includes former Bucknell assistant Bryan Goodman.
Would love to see Binghamton improve to the point that restarting a series with Bucknell makes sense again. One of the easier OOC road trips available.

What is surprising is that Dempsey lasted nine years. His overall record during that time was 72-194, with their best season being 12-20. And his best league record was 5-11. He apparently survived because his predecessors were involved in numerous NCAA violations and/or had a number of criminals on the roster.
Dempsey is still only 47, as he started his D1 head-coaching career at the age of 30 (Rider). This is the situation Dempsey inherited at Bing: https://www.midmajormadness.com/features/2012/10/1...
I agree it would nice to have a series with Binghamton, which is not a long bus ride. They also traditionally have had a very good fan base, although a decade or more of horrible teams has eroded it.

It's Spiker's first NCAA trip in 12 years as a head coach. Army, of course, is still waiting for its first appearance.

I met Steve Watson once when he was the AD at St. Bonaventure. When he figured out I was a Bucknell alum, talk naturally turned to John, who was still living and teaching at Bona. They grew up in a small village 20 miles north of Olean. When I brought up John's name, Steve's response was, "Yeah, second best thing to ever come out of Franklinville."
Brothers.

George Mason hires Kim English, an asst. at Tennessee who will be making his head coaching debut. An interesting pick. He is either going to continue his fast track to success, or struggle greatly. I believe he's jumping straight into the deep end but it will be fun to track his progress.
