What do people think about this basketball season? Will there be Harvard basketball and the Ivies? Will college basketball just continue without the Ivies? Maybe they play conference games during the week since all of the schools are in close proximity and play some non conference games on the weekend so there is more time to travel. What do people think?

It looks grim. Essentially, what they are saying is that unless and until there either is a vaccine or it runs its course, it is too dangerous to play. And both of those alternatives are unlikely to happen by January.

I also think timing is the tricky part. It’s entirely possible that a January start could be okay but that *by the decision point* for a January start, it won’t be or would at least be unclear.
The best scenario for the Ivies is that the NCAA cuts a deal with CBS/Turner for May/June Madness and starts the season in February. Every month will count here in the optimistic scenario (in the pessimistic scenario, none of the Phase 3 trials pan out, and we’re just screwed for a lot longer).

If we start games in January and possibly leap right into the conference schedule, how in the hell are we going to cycle through 17 different starting line ups?

Uh, after a few months on campus, do you expect all players to remain healthy?
