Every Ivy player who transferred. It's not just a school loyatly issue. So definitely Ryan. But also Bryce Aiken. And Seth Towns. And anyone elso who I can figure out where they are. Watching them do well will reflect positively on all Ivies. So that is my plan.

And I may adopt the Illini as a long time friend went there and is a die hard.

There is Mike Smith, starting at Michigan, and Jordan Bruner, set to debut Monday night. Patrick Tape plays tonight for Duke I think. And if you wanna really stretch you can watch Desmond Cambridge at Nevada and Forrester at St Joes.

Take your pick of former Ivy Leaguers playing this season:
Bryce Aiken (Harvard) - Seton Hall
Laura Bagwell-Katalinich (Cornell) - Minnesota
Brendan Barry (Dartmouth) - Temple
Katie Benzan (Harvard) - Maryland
Ryan Betley (Penn) - Cal
Jordan Bruner (Yale) - Alabama
Desmond Cambridge (Brown) - Nevada
Jaron Faulds (Columbia) - Michigan
Jack Forrest (Columbia) - St. Joe's
Jake Killingsworth (Columbia) - UC San Diego
Vittorio-Reynoso Avila (Princeton) - Santa Clara
Mike Smith (Columbia) - Michigan
Patrick Tape (Columbia) - Duke
Seth Towns (Harvard) - Ohio State

Transferred, but teams do not have a schedule:
Trevon Ary Turner (Dartmouth) - Azusa Pacific
David Erebor (Brown) - Chestnut Hill College
Myles Hanson (Columbia) - Stonehill (was at Xavier for 2 years)
Kuba Mijakowski (Penn) - Jefferson

FYI:
Reed Farley (Harvard) - no team
Jake Kuhn (Cornell) - no team
George Mawanda-Kalema (Brown) - no team

Sorry, but I could never root for Michigan or Duke, ever.

I agree with Penn Nation - Duke - NEVER!

More to the point, as the Ivies remain the ONLY D-1 league not playing, I have found that I have very little interest in watching ANYONE since there is NO CHANCE we can ever face these teams.

Thanks so much, Ivy Presidents!

Have to admit that I too am a Duke hater. Can’t say I feel a lot of love for Notre Dame either.

Take with a grain of salt, since they weren’t playing a division one opponent, but Betley was the leading scorer in Cal’s second game and had a game high 9 rebounds. I was a little worried about the fit because, while Cal desperately needed 3 point shooting, it wasn’t clear that they moved the ball well enough to take advantage of having it. But so far so good.

And i’m the opposite of Steve. No Ivy basketball has actually made me more interested in watching other college basketball conferences. I think i’m just starved for basketball. Seeing the former Ivy players helps.

I feel precisely the same way, Steve. Although not surprising, it is very depressing that the Ivy Presidents came to that decision. But I'm not sure that most of country will even be aware (or care) that the Ivy League will not be represented in March Madness.

I'll amend my answer to say that I would be interested in watching Cal since I got to know Ryan during his four years and he is a terrific young man and a credit to Penn and his family. As for the other Ivy players, I hope that they live long and prosper but I'm not turning on the TV to watch them.

I have to say, it was highly entertaining watching Virginia Tech take down Nova in overtime yesterday.

To be fair, we made that top 5 after the Ivy decision, so I’m not sure it will have an effect on us - assuming a commitment comes before season’s end, and any of the other programs have an opportunity to demonstrate how great they are while we cannot.

The 2021 class is already set, and they would really only be deterred from playing at Penn by gap-years from the 2020 class reclassifying, but I find it highly unlikely that 1) this scenario happens and 2) this hypothetical shouldn’t affect the 2022 class

Mike Smith starting @ Michigan and Jordan Bruner starting @ Alabama both bring favorable attention to the the Ivies.

My son went to VT so it was rather enjoyable although I missed most of the game. Surprised but Mike Young seems like a very good hire for the Hokies.

Only 48 weeks til next season unless the Ivy presidents cancel it because someone has the sniffles.

Statements like this burn credibility when critiquing actual rules that hurt athletics for no real benefit.

It's one thing to think the 2-in-4 MTE rule is dumb. Or limitations on practices. Or the "unpaid" third assistants. It's quite another to trivialize a pandemic as the sniffles.

How about the one about prohibiting grad students, even those who are NOT transferring, from not being able to complete their eligibility in that year?

While I agree that the pandemic is certainly many more times significant than the sniffles, if the Ivy Presidents are so smart, why is the IL the ONLY Division I conference not playing or trying to play. I'm well aware that there are risks. While other conferences are doing this for money (and I get that), I've never seen any of the Ivies being opposed to receiving additional money. How do you think they have multi-BILLION dollar endowments that they are always unwilling to spend?

Not every conference is doing this for the money. There are other good reasons to do it. It’s one thing if the IL evaluated it and decided against. It was never actually evaluated as a viable option.

Of all the former Ivy players starting and/or playing at power five schools, only one is currently averaging 10+ ppg. Ryan Betley. Bradley is hurt now, and Betley has gone for 17 and 19 since he went down (both in wins).

Obviously Cal isn’t a power house, but he seems to have landed in a good spot.

There just isn't a team in the NCAA or NBA that can't use a long distance gunner who can move off the ball, gives up the rock quickly, and has low turnovers. He was really improving defensively too, until his knee injury. I need to watch some of his games - thanks for the reminder!

I was looking for some YouTube highlights of Cal games and found this instead. I think this shows why he performs well at the next level. There's quite a bit of subtlety in his off the ball movement through screens. He forces his defender to choose between protecting his dive to the hoop vs. the three. He really is a world class shooter.

I was also struck by some great passes from Brodeur. Man, I miss that pairing. You're always in the game with those two around.

It was good to see Betley doing well, but there were a bunch of animated GIF files of Betley flexing for the camera. Not enough game clips!
