Hard to predict how the cancellation of all 2020 games will affect the 2021 schedule. However I see that the Bison will be playing Army at West Point on Saturday November 13th.

Thanks, 137. Does the home game vs Penn make it likely we'll be at Franklin Field in 2022?

Hard to say. The Bison played Penn at Franklin in 2018. There was no return game in 2019, but that could have been due to a problem finding a mutual date. So this year might be the return game for 2018.
Having said that, they might originally have had to agree to a two for one with Penn, which would make a 2022 game at Franklin likely.

Thinking this has to be a glitch. This site has Bucknell football taking on Navy in 2024 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.

I don't know why, but I thought Bucknell football started next weekend. I now see they lost at Sacred Heart yesterday, 21-0. You can blame the loss on me.

Next: At Villanova on Saturday at 6pm. Wildcats beat Lehigh 47-3.

You can blame the loss on a lack of offense. But we weren't alone. I think Bucknell, Lehigh, Colgate & Fordham score a total of 10 points this weekend.
Holy Cross got a nice win over UConn, but the biggest surprise to me was Lafayette only losing 35-14 at Air Force.

Sacred Heart, who won the NEC last year, returned 21 of 22 starters - and has 16 fifth year players who took advantage of the NCAA waiver that Bucknell doesn't allow its athletes to use. So the result was not surprising.
But what is more painful is that two of BU's top few players, the starting QB and their best OL, went down with serious injuries. On top of that, their best DL is out for at least much of the season and they also were missing their top WR. (Not to mention one of the top Bison WR's in decades transferring to Rutgers over the summer.) This will be very much a rebuilding season, with the huge amount of graduated talent plus the injuries.
Villanova beat Lehigh 47-3 Saturday in Bethlehem, so the chance of a Bison win this coming weekend is very low, to say the least. To stay within 30 would be a surprise.

Brandon Sanders, who is one of the top WRs the Bison have had in many years. He caught a pass for Rutgers on Saturday. Sanders, as a soph in 2019, caught 58 passes in nine games for the Bison.
One big issue for Bucknell, that will be an issue for four years, is the Admin's refusal to let anyone return and use their fifth year of eligibility. Sanders is not only going to play for Rutgers this year but also next year.

Have we ever been down by more than 45-0 at half??
Villanova plays at Penn State in a couple of weeks so they are in for a dash of what they’ve been dishing out. Such a talent delta in their schedule. Nova recruits hard and well for football and actively seeks transfers like their QB.

Also Villanova has 16 players using the 5th year of eligibility awarded by the NCAA. Probably others in their fifth year who are using an injury red shirt. Bucknell, of course, has exactly zero 5th year players. They are the only patriot league score not to allow any fifth year players. That will be a big issue in some sports, especially basketball and lacrosse.

Yes, football is definitely now on 100.9, “The Valleyâ€. Doubt there’s much difference in the coverage. Don’t know about basketball.
As for football, Bucknell is now down to its fourth running back. Also missing three of the top four players, including their starting quarterback, their best DL, and their best OL – all out with serious injuries. Looks like about eight starters are missing. Team doesn’t have enough depth to overcome that when it comes to OOC games. P

Two very positive observations after a day spent on campus. First, the women’s soccer team is much improved this year, and a lot of fun to watch. Their victory over preseason favorite Navy was well earned. Second, the new scoreboard at the football stadium is awesome. I like it a lot.

137 is it a result of injury? I really thought the program was moving forward with Coach Cecchini but ii don’t think it’s a Bison problem as others have also suggested. It appears there is a league wide decline in out of conference competitiveness which is sad when recalling how good the League seemed to be doing only a few years ago.

Watching the Homecoming game vs Cornell on ESPN, and I do not believe there are enough people there to make Sojka more look crowded. Going back to a time when the football game was the highlight of the weekend, this is hard to watch. Back in the day as some of you will remember, they also had a Homecoming parade in which many area high school bands, as well as the Bison Marching Band ( now extinct) participated. Later on all of those bands were in the stands at the football game. I think those bands accounted for more people than I see at today’s game. On the positive side the shots of the area surrounding the stadium are gorgeous.

Nice comeback win for FB Bison before a huge homecoming crowd of about 12,000 empty seats. There also appeared to be a few hundred people there. Bison trailed 7-0 and 10-7 before taking control and winning 21-10. Two Big Red turnovers thwarted certain scoring opportunities for them. One, an interception on the one just before half, when they were well within FG range. Second a 4th quarter fumble on first and goal at the one, recovered in the end zone by the good guys. Had CU gotten that FG before the half they could have opted to go for two to tie if they had scored instead of fumbled in the fourth quarter. Of course that all assumes that all else unfolded as it did.

Nice win after some struggles in the first few games. Helps to have a few starters back. It would have been closer but for some untimely turnovers by Cornell. But credit the Bison for forcing those turnovers.

I caught the end of the Lafayette-Fordham game. Fordham scored a TD with 22 seconds left to win 42-41. Bison defense better be ready when we play those two teams. At the other end of the spectrum, Lehigh lost to Yale 34-0. Lehigh has yet to score a TD and has been outscored 174-9 this season, giving up at least 30 points in all five games.

I was at the game, and the crowd was indeed surprisingly small for a sunny homecoming afternoon. That said, credit to those who were there, because they were pretty loud, aided by a couple fans who brought their own drums. The team seemed to get better and better as the game went on, which was a pleasant surprise. I’m afraid Cornell is in for a long year. They aren’t very good.

I was there for homecoming and watched the entire game. Yes it is sad that more people don't attend. That said, The new score board screen is great, as well as audio that one can actually hear. I didn't know that they were putting a mini scoreboard along the Press Box wall , which is a nice feature to have as well, when you are sitting in the sun. It was nice to have a victory on homecoming to leave everyone in a good mood for the rest of the evening.

A few thoughts:
1. Agree with NoMoney about the quality of the new scoreboard and also the secondary scoreboard.
2. As Bison75 pointed out, the crowd got quite loud. I believe the ringleader, who has been doing this for four years, is a friend/relative of Bison DE Grayson Cherubino, who unfortunately is one of the many Bison who has suffered a serious injury. That hasn't stopped his buddy from envigorating the crowd. He used to use a huge megaphone plus a large drum, but now he has a couple assistants doing the drum part. Bucknell should hire him to come to basketball games.
3. Listed attendance was 2887 and that was pretty accurate. It is disappointing, but it is not just a Bucknell issue but rather an issue hitting many smaller northeastern schools. For example, Colgate drew 2684 vs Lehigh for their homecoming in perfect weather the previous week. Lehigh just drew 3500 vs Yale. Lafayette's homecoming game vs Fordham drew 2950 last week. (And remember that LU and LC have far more alums who live within 90 minutes of campus than does Bucknell.) Fordham's season opener vs Monmouth drew 2684. Etc.
4. I don't have any stats but I have the feeling that younger alums don't attend Homecoming in nearly the same numbers as previous generations. Typically they instead keep in touch with dozens of classmates via social media, facetime, etc. I know my kids who attended Bucknell are in constant contact with many classmates and they meet for weekend getaways, longer vacations, etc. So Homecoming is nothing special to them.

Make sense. As for todays game vs LC, what can you say. We lose 27-0 and the only positive ther is we held them to 14 fewer point than Fordham did. Of course FU won their game vs LC. LC has an awesome frosh QB who is completing 70 % of his passes and was close to 90% today. And they are not just short oasses, this kid get close to 60 yard in the air, and on target.

Where is our offense? I thought this year would an uphill battle but was expecting to lose 27-21 not by shutout vs LC.
Fordham is more explosive than LC.
Is it the line or lack of skill players/speed or all of the above? I realize we are a young team. Just thought we’d be putting a lot more points on the board.

Part of the problem is due to BU having lost their very good senior QB to a serious knee injury. Part is due to having lost their top two OL to injuries. Also part of the problem is not having any 5th year players. Lafayette brought back five very good players for a 5th year.

Gave up almost 700 yards of total offense to Fordham. And I’m sure that Fordham played 12 or 15 players in their 5th years. We need to somehow level or even out the playing field. Letter writing campaign? What do you think?
We still have Army coming up in a few weeks and that will be another big challenge.

This is an easier stretch coming up with Georgetown, Colgate, and Lehigh. Maybe they can win one or two of those. But Army and Holy Cross are going to be ugly. Fordham lost 4 fumbles or the score might have been in the 80s.

After not scoring a touchdown in their first 6 games, they scored 4 against Fordham and nearly pulled off the upset. Fordham came back from being down 28-14 to win 35-28.
It will be an interesting matchup. First we have to deal with Colgate on the road after losing a very winable game.

Alas, I was there to see a winless team that had only scored 49 points in eight games hang 38 on the Bison. To top it off, Lehigh brought their terrific marching band, resplendent in brown uniforms that UPS drivers can only dream of. Their rendition of Poker Face was first rate, and did I mention that they play our fight song better than we do?

There’s nothing wrong with dropping football as a sport if there’s no interest in funding it. I can’t imagine Bucknell alumni would want this to happen.
That said, I only participate in this board for Bison men’s basketball. The absolute destruction of that program and the cognitive dissonance created by pointing out the obvious leads me to believe no one actually cares.
What happened to Lacrosse? Men’s Soccer? Baseball? Within the last decade all these programs achieved success and have now been relegated to complete and utter crap. Yet this board has people who seal clap for their alma mater regardless of failure.
I miss Bucknell taking sports seriously. I have so many positive memories as a kid on that campus. It’s really sad.

Bucknell alumni and fans, for some context, this issue is a raw nerve for me and I am engaged in some projection. Bloomsburg University is literally being merged with two inferior institutions. Its athletic programs are in shambles despite large donations and pressure from alumni.
So the seal clapping comments is out of line. We all want the best for the institution and its student-athletes.
Sincerely,
A Clapping Seal

An away game at Army on the CBS sports network, lets just take our lumps and move on. My grandma is frail and in a nursing home, but its still nice to have her around.

Cadets gonna do a lot of push-ups today. I went to the last game against Army, which we actually could have won. Today is just going to be an embarrassment.

Three fun facts from today’s game, which I confess to having attended. First, Holy Cross had more points at halftime than we had total yards. Second, I counted exactly 130 hardy witnesses in the home stands. The pep band apparently had a prior commitment. And third, the pizza at La Casa de Pizza is as good as ever. Bonus fact: HC had 14 points before we ran a play from scrimmage.

Coach Susan settled his age discrimination lawsuit against Bucknell. Not a lot of details.

I think it’s unlikely he got much at all. Didn’t seem like he had much of a case, considering how poorly his teams had done and the fact that they were getting worse.

I was wondering if this lawsuit was still a thing because I saw Susan at one of the non conference games. La Salle maybe? I thought it was weird he would show up to a game at a school he had a lawsuit against.

According to the article, he was an assistant coach at Bucknell from 1981-1990, head coach from 2010-2019 and got an extension in 2015. His salary in 2018 was 234,381. His record at Bucknell was 38-61. And he thinks he was canned for his age? Sounds to me he's been reading the poor victim playbook too much. Poor Joe. He punted. Im sure the arbitration earned him his final Bucknell L.
