The PL championship was held today at Lehigh. Ashlyn Ramos won the women's race, which automatically qualifies her for the NCAA Championships at Ok St. The women's team was 3rd behind Boston and Army. The men's team finished 4th. Connor McMenamin finished 5th to make all PL.

The race was originally scheduled to be run at Lafayette, but due to snow on the course was moved to a road course at Lehigh. All three of Bucknell's scheduled meets in February were cancelled due to weather or COVID, along with three indoor track meets. This was their first competition of any kind in over a year.

Cross-country was designated a winter sport due to COVID in the fall and to avoid conflicting with outdoor track. The irony of this, for all fall sports that were postponed, is that the COVID cases and rates are far higher now than they were in the fall.

Respectable showing considering all of the issues. Congrats to Ramos.

Compared to where the team would normally be at the end of October, just prior to the PL meet, how would you judge their readiness? Were they able to do normal training during the lockdown? Do you think having to run all roads instead of a normal XC course had an effect?

Some people were ready, some weren't. But overall, as a team they were not nearly as prepared as they would be in October. The training was certainly disrupted a good deal. They were often training on their own, which is just more difficult than having teammates around. I don't think the course mattered since all of the training was on the roads.
