i once again know this is a basketball forum.. tonight in Davis the Bucknell Women's Volleyball team under new coach Tyler Hagstrom upset the forever Patriot League Champs American University Eagles 3 to 2 in 5 sets. Friday night in Washington DC American won 4 sets to 1, this the 2nd time in the last 50 matches Bucknell has won against the Eagles. In the preseason poll American predicted #1 Bucknell #8, our young team is much better then anyone thought, new coach, better system, perhaps, team plays with real desire. Games on ESPN Plus, Doug Birdsong was as fired up as the the young ladies, hoping this is the first of many wins, Go BIson.

You just beat me to posting. But here is what I had just composed:
HUGE Win for Bison Volleyball
Anyone who follows PL volleyball knows that American is always the dominant team. They have won the regular season the last seven years and 18 out of 20 since they jointed the PL. The Bison, who have not finished in the PL top four for over a decade, had lost 48 straight matches to AU - until tonight when Bucknell took them down in five hard-fought sets.
The Bison, under new coach Tyler Hagstrom, had played them tough in a four set loss on Friday, so there was some hope - but few expected a win. BU graduated three of six starters last year and is playing a fair number of frosh. Kudos to the team and Coach Hagstrom.

He is working hard. I have been coaching volleyball for 37 years a team that has been nationally ranked a few times and has private school kids who can handle the rigor/afford Bucknell. This is the first Bucknell coach I have been in contact with at all other than thank you notes for my contributions to the program. He is clearly trying to up the talent level in the program on the recruiting side.
Congrats on a great win!
