Replay will be available soon on ESPN+. It's worth watching at least the last 5:30 of regulation, when both goals were scored, plus OT and the shootout.
Boston U and American have been the two dominant teams in PL FH for many years. One down, one to go.

That is a great win for the program. When the Bison started the abbreviated season with three straight losses, it appeared that they wouldn't even make the tournament. Instead they won out, and now have beaten the two perennial powers of the PL in a 48 hour span. Boston U was undefeated coming into this game, but the Bison not only beat them but also dominated statistically. Outshot them 15-6 and earned 14 corners compared to five for Boston. They also overcame a gut-wrenching score by Boston with one second left in the third period to give them the lead. Congrats to Jeremy Cook and the whole team!
Btw, this is the first PL title ever for Bison FH, after 31 years. It's a major accomplishment for a program that has fewer scholarships and spends a lot less money than do American and Boston U.

Congrats to Coach Cook and the team. But I have to admit, field hockey is the one sport I just can't watch. I've never been able to comprehend all the stops and starts in play.

Bison get a short trip to Penn State, where they will play #18 VCU Friday at noon. Winner to play 2-seed Michigan at noon on Sunday, also at Penn State. (Remaining rounds are at UNC.)

The Bison just took out undefeated VCU 2-1 on a goal by MK Stefanowicz (her second) with 13 seconds left in the 2nd OT. VCU, who won the A-10, generally had the better of play - but the Bison got the result. They now play Michigan, the nation's #2 team, on Sunday.

If the Bison were to win this game, it might well be the biggest upset in FH history.

As advertised by jkrun80, there sure are a lot of whistles in this sport. Are most of them a single type of infraction?

Never mind...I found a high-level rule overview page.
Michigan wins 2-0.

There are a few fairly common reasons for whistles. But the most common has to be when the ball hits a player's foot/leg. That is an automatic violation, regardless of whether it was unintentional or unavoidable. Because of that rule, players frequently try to hit the ball into an opponent's leg - especially when they are near enough to the goal that it will result in a penalty corner.
I think the sport would be markedly improved if an unintentional contact between ball and foot/leg would simply be a "play on". Not only would the number of whistles fall dramatically, but you wouldn't have attacking players constantly trying to hit the ball into a leg/foot.

I know nothing of the sport, and that stream did nothing to alleviate that problem, but I assume losing 2-0 to the 2nd best team in the nation is not anything for the Bucknell ladies to hang their heads over. It did seem that the play was pretty lopsided in favor of MU,!, but they were not able to run up the score.

May I offer my congrats to Bucknell field hockey. No tougher bad-azz ladies at Bucknell aside from the ladies club rugby players. They exude a quiet introspect but I'd never want to get in a brawl with one. Ray Bucknell!
