Emma Theodorsson, a 6-1 SG/SF from Moon Area H.S., a western suburb of Pittsburgh, committed to the Bison 2022 recruiting class today. Theodorsson averaged 18 ppg as a junior against a fairly tough schedule. She made 3rd team all-state in Class 5A.
Theodorsson had offers from Boston U, Lehigh, American, Navy, Lafayette, Western Michigan, Miami (Ohio), Cleveland State, North Dakota, North Florida, and Wofford. Glad to beat out that level of competition.

Welcome. I can’t wait to read her bio. I’ve been too Iceland a view times and hoops isn’t a sport on the radar there.

True, basketball is far below soccer in terms of fan interest. But it is at least somewhat on the radar. Iceland has a 12-team basketball A League, plus a 9-team B League. Both have a number of Americans and other foreigners. Some may remember that Donald Brown had a very successful season playing in Iceland prior to hurting his knee.
Icelander Jon Axel Gudmundsson was a star recently for some very good Davidson teams. As a junior, he was the A-10 POY. He completed his career as the first D1 player in 27 years to hit career marks of 1,500 points, 700 rebounds, 500 assists, 200 made 3-pointers and 150 steals.

Bison 137 thanks for letting me know this. After first, I couldn't imagine how they maintain a first and second division in a country that small. Such a large percentage of people live in either Reykjavik or Kopavogur that I can't believe they can maintain competitive leagues.
However I talked to my friend Siggi who lives in Kopavogur and he said in the winter months, basketball is popular because of the limited amount of daylight.
I know swimming is also a passion there because all of their public pools are heated by geothermal energy. The pools in every town are community gathering places year round.
