Santi Aldama of Loyola, who likely would have been the league's preseason POY, has decided to go pro. There is a chance he could be taken late in the second round, but it is more likely he will go undrafted and end up playing in Spain.
With Aldama gone, Loyola likely will be picked for the middle of the pack, instead of being viewed as a contender for first. They could be better, however, if the 6-9 Serbian twins they are bringing in are better than expected. Hard to tell since they didn't play HS ball in 2020-21.

Loyola just moved up the preseason ladder, adding
Andrej Jakimovski, a 6-8 transfer from Washington State. Jakimovski, who is from Macedonia, started 19 games for WSU as a frosh and played over 25 mpg. He had 19 points in a game vs Stanford.
This is the type of player the current staff should be working hard to land, as opposed to the current strategy.

You’re negativity gets old. Why don’t you guys find another program to nit pick, criticize, and find fault with anything and everything that happens. Go Bison!

It’s difficult to make the realization your favorite team is in a state of free fall. Your cognitive dissonance doesn’t make it less true and won’t stop anyone from commenting on the shot show that is men’s basketball.
With the exception of OldBison who makes fun of athletes suicidal thoughts and depression, most people on this board direct their anger at the coach and administration. Totally appropriate for any sports discussion board.

Of course we all realize that the program is trending down and no loyal fan is happy about that. Neither are the coaches or players. As for the faculty and academic Administration, my observation is they don’t really care. But the constant finger pointing and cheap shots get old and in some cases are misdirected and not based on facts.

So what’s the current recruiting strategy? Sorry that comment triggered you but do you have any idea what positions the staff is recruiting? It seems very dart board to me.

They are trying to recruit the best players possible who can meet basic academic requirements and be accepted. Admissions, faculty, and the administration are not going to make the financial commitment via scholarships and accept transfers or new players who can’t meet or don’t even make the effort to meet basic academics standards.

As for me, Bucknell is my alma mater and as an alum I want their teams to do well. I think that describes many, if not most people following this board. If the administration “ doesn’t care,†maybe it is because they know that with the direction the NCAA is going Bucknell can no longer compete on a national level, and the days of doing so are probably behind us.
But whether the negativity is justified or not, it does get tiring and is the main reason I have gone from practically living on this board to just checking in occasionally.

Aldama ended up being picked in the first round. Pick #30 to the Grizzlies.

From what I read, this was a huge surprise pick and is being heavily criticized. But I wish him well.

Yes very surprising. Sports Illustrated graded the pick as a D-. Most mock drafts had him going closer to #60 or going undrafted. I assume the Grizzlies intend to stash him in Spain for a couple of years while he develops.
According to ESPN, Aldama had every intention of staying in Spain, meaning he did not attend the 2021 NBA Combine and did not conduct any known workouts with NBA teams. He had a desire to "continue his career in Spain" and turned down Zoom interviews while in Spain to discourage teams from selecting him.
If a player is not drafted fairly early, it is often better to go undrafted in the NBA draft/salary structure.

Watching Lafayette/Syracuse on MASN. About what you’d expect - Lafayette down 22 at the half.

Won by eight points no less. UVA was projected to be significantly better than NC State.

Lehigh going to overtime at Rutgers.
Ended up losing by three. Soph Dominic Parolin, who Lehigh discovered late in his senior year in the Vancouver area, got 11 points and 14 rebounds. He is one of several late finds for Lehigh over the years who have worked out well. Brett Reid and staff work hard and are very good at getting commitments from players they only recently met. Thankfully BR is not much with the x's and o's.
Fifth year wing Marques Wilson had 21 points for LU. He is a player the Bison offered early, but LU got on him a few months later and closed the deal.

For us Rutgers is another one that got away. Brett has new assistant from Memphis area. We're hoping he can help with the x's and o's. Good luck Sunday. My dad was a Bucknell and Temple alum, so no love here for Penn. And actually I may come up for the game. Are they insisting on masks in Sojka?

Sorry I missed this post and started a thread. Good win for Navy and I noticed the spin offered by analysts regarding Virginia’s defensive struggles.
