Mike re-signed with OKC for two years, $7 million - a big boost from his previous contract.

Great news for Mike. When he was drafted, someone on this board predicted he would be in the NBA for 10 years. I was skeptical, but turns out I was wrong.

Trying to figure out OKC. They bench him for half the season because they want to play young guys and now resign him for two years.

It’s puzzling. It was his most productive year as a professional and they shut him down. But they overpaid the minimum to bring him back.

Tanking for better draft picks? Whatever their thinking, I’m happy for Mike.

I think from what I’ve read he really likes living in and playing for OKC. Sometimes happiness isn’t found in a bigger contract.

Definitely, and who knows if he even could’ve received a larger contract. If he is happy in OKC then it’s a no-brainer for him. Not sure any of us realistically thought he’d have this long of an NBA career with earnings up to $24 million. Awesome.

Fitting that it is OKC, a fond spot for us Bucknellians!

And they play in the same arena. In 2005, it was called the Ford Center. Has changed names a few times since then, but it is still the same venue.

Muscala became the first player in OKC history to score 13+ points in 12 minutes or less

That was last night. His first game of the season. Tonight he came back with another similar effort: 9 points in 16 minutes, 3-4 on threes, 2 boards, 1 assist, 2 steals.

In his first two games, he has played 28 minutes and scored 22 points. He is 3-4 on twos, and 5-7 on threes. Hopefully this will allow him to continue to get minutes, as OKC is in full rebuilding mode and they have a ton of decent young players.

CJ may be the most accomplished player currently in the NBA who hasn’t been selected to an All-Star game. Six consecutive seasons scoring more than 20 points per game, a Most Improved Player of the Year Award, and no all-star selections. I hope he eventually gets the nod. It’s deserved.

So how are all-starts selected? Is it fans, sportswriters, players, coaches, the league, or what? If it is the league maybe they hold his player's association role against him.

Playing in a smaller market far away from the East Coast media probably does not help.
New season, new team, new dream . . .

The starting five is picked by a combined vote of coaches, fans, and media. The 7 subs are selected in a vote of the head coaches.

Part of CJ’s problem is that Portland has usually been a bust in the playoffs. Plus he is not the star on Portland. Tough for the #2 guy on a mediocre team to get picked. The West has had a lot of good players.

Just an observation, but CJ scores and not a whole lot more. He doesn’t create much for teammates.

Following a couple of sub par shooting performances, Mike really broke out tonight in a win against the Spurs. He had 2-2 on twos, 3-4 on threes, 7-9 on free throws - giving him 20 points in 14 minutes. Also had four rebounds and two blocked shots.

Mike had another good game last night with 12 points in 13 minutes. 3-3 on threes, 3-3 on FTs. The rest of the team was 7-31 on threes.

Mike went into the NBA history books last night. Unfortunately it was due to being on the losing side of the biggest margin ever with the Thunder losing by 73 to the Grizzlies.

In another Patriot League connection from the game, Santi Aldama from Loyola had his first real standout NBA performance on the winning side with 18 pts, 10 rebounds and an almost unbelievable +52 plus/minus.
