Per Jon Rothstein on Twitter:
"Source: Fordham's Kyle Neptune will hire Dave Paulsen in a special advisory role"
https://twitter.com/JonRothstein/status/1 443937561...
Not sure what exactly a "special advisory role" is, but maybe it's something like when former Purdue coach Gene Keady was a mentor of sorts to Steve Lavin at St John's.

I think that’s exactly what it is. In that sort of role, he cannot coach the players or interact with them during a game or practice. However he can give suggestions to the coach at both practices and games as to what they might want to do. Also, this is not a recruiting position.
This Paulson role, according to res on the holy cross board, has been rumored on the Fordham board for a few months. However it was only in the last eight or nine days that it was reported semi-officially.

Yes, long-term Fordham poster ace93 mentioned it on the A10 board back in June or July. Sorry, I should have posted something here.

From what ace described, his expected role is exactly as you describe.

Makes for a good way for him to stay connected to basketball ahead of next year’s round of new coach openings.

If first-year Fordham coach Kyle Neptune's name sounds familiar, it's because he played at Lehigh, graduating in 2007 (though I'm sure, unlike me, many of you recalled that).
He was most recently an assistant at Villanova.

A bit off-topic here, but I didn't want to start a new thread. Pausen's longtime assistant Dane Fischer is off to a dreadful start this year at W&M. He did well in 2019-20 with his predecessor's players, at least the ones that did not transfer, but the Tribe is 1-7 with a kenpom ranking of 320.

Paulsen’s first game as a USA Network color commentator is Saturday at noon, as former Bucknell manager of basketball operations Jamion Christian’s George Washington Colonials host Dayton.

That’s pretty cool. Glad Dave is keeping busy until his next coaching move…hopefully he returns to coaching.

Good luck to Dave Paulson today! I think hes going to be as good announcer as he was coach. And he was a great coach!

I can see him now, pacing in the booth with his Gatorade cup.

I just watched the end of the game that DP was working. He said he has hope of coaching again in the future.

He was a very good recruiter and a solid coach. I did not agree with everything that he did, but he knows how to win, so, I would support this.

DP was just named an assistant coach at Fordham. Last year he was a special assistant to the Head Coach, which was not a coaching position.
There were unconfirmed rumors that he interviewed for the Lafayette job a few months ago.

Seems a bit of a fall but I’m glad he’s still in the coaching game.
