Yes, definitely good to see her connecting on the drives, especially a few with the right hand.

Like you, I had the impression of a recent problem with FT's, but looking back I see in the six games prior to Holy Cross that she had gone 10-13 (77%) from the line. To find a poor game from the line, you have to go back to the Colgate game on January 19th when she was 2-6. Having said that, her FT pct this year is 72%, down from a spectacular 87% last season.

Also the fact that the missed fits came in key situations tends to make it look like there were more of them. But the poor foul shooting has been a team problem of late.

That said, the first 3 quarters against HC is the best I can remember any Bucknell hoops team. men or women, look for that stretch of time. HC had 17 at the half, 27 after 3. They were hopelessly out of it long before the half. Avery Labarbara was limited to one 3 pointer until the 3rd qtr when the Bison did in fact take thei foot off the gas.

Big game tonight for the women.

A win gets them within 1 game of 2nd. A loss likely drops them into a tie with Army for 5th/6th.

Down 11 at the half. No threes and by my reckoning no 2nd chance points. Need a hot start in the 2nd half or this will get out of reach an another win on the road, lose at home split will be recorded.

Ladies played great defense in the third, and rode Taylor O’Brien’s hot hand to a 41-39 lead after 3. Out scored the Hawks 18-5 in the 3rd.

Buzzer beater game winning 3 pointer for Lehigh doesn’t beat the buzzer. Bison win by 2 in a fantastic game.

WOW! Great gritty win on another night when the shot poorly. Defense and Taylor O come through big time in the 2nd half. Clutch 3 by Tai Johnson, the only one we made, just when we needed it. This team's got heart if nothing else.

This was a great win. Down by 11 at the half, facing the preseason favorite, getting beaten on the boards, and unable to hit any outside shots. But a win!

O'Brien - despite her inability to make outside shots continuing - still had a tremendous game. She had 27 points, 11 rebounds, 4 steals, and 2 assists.

BU in total shot 1-14 from three. And outrebounded 41-34. But LU had 20 turnovers to 7 for the Bison.

Forgot to mention a stat on the rebounds. In the first half, LU led 27-15 on the boards. In the second half, Bucknell won the rebound battle 19-14.

This team has Character, with a capital C, and they play their hearts out for all 40 minutes. You cannot ask for more from a team.

Boston crushed Holy Cross at home. They play again in the last game of the season. Lehigh will play back to back games at American next Tuesday and Wednesday to make up a postponed game. It's going to be a wild two weeks with 5 teams within two games of each other.

If the Bison can improbably run the table, then they will hold the head-to-head tiebreaker over every team. Doubt they can do that, but it could make things interesting.

Unlikely they can catch Boston U, who is two games ahead of them - but to get to 2nd, or even 3rd, would make the path to the PL finals easier.

Current Standings (and games left):

Boston U . 11-3 . CU, LC, Buck, HC
Holy Cross 10-4 . Na, CU, Ar, Bos
Lehigh . . 9-4 . Loy, AU, AU, LC, Na
American . 9-4 . Ar, Leh, Leh, Loy, LC
Bucknell . 9-5 . LC, Ar, Bos, CU
Army W.P. . 8-6 . AU, Buck, HC, Loy

Massey projects the following number of wins for each team:

Boston: 2.74 (out of 4)
Holy Cross: 2.71 (out of 4)
Lehigh: 3.73 (out of 5)
American: 2.89 (out of 5)
Bucknell: 3.18 (out of 4)

At the end, the Bison may be having flashbacks to the loss at home vs Navy - Navy's only win over any of the "big five" teams. in that game, the Bison missed a tying FT and two other shots that could have sent the game to OT in the final seconds.

Thankfully there are a lot of differences between Coach Woodruff and ND. One of them is the use of subs - especially when the game is on the line. Tonight all of the second half starters, except the center, played the entire 20 minutes of the third and fourth quarters. He knew that those players, even if a bit tired, gave them the best chance to win. He didn't yank O'Brien or Collins for a few minutes late in the game, as one Bucknell head coach would have done.

In total, O'Brien played the final 32 minutes without a breather and Collins played the final 26 minutes. It didn't seem to affect their play a whole lot.

It was an interesting strategy starting Johnson for Kulesza in the second half and leaving her in the whole 20 minutes. Even though we were giving up some size and 3-pt shooting, he went all in on the defense. Ironically, Johnson ended up making the only 3 of the game.

Assuming AU and LU win their game before their back to back, both will have 5 losses, or one of them will have 6 after the back to back, and neither is likely to lose in their last two ( although stranger things have happened.) So a Bison sweep would either tie us in the loss column with AU/LU, thus giving us third w/ tie breaker, or if either AU or LU wins both games we would be 4th. But if we sweep Boston will have 4 losses as will HC (assuming they win out until their finale with BU. Thus the winner of that game is first, and there could be a 4 way tie for second. Or we could lose to Boston and or Army and none of it would make much difference.

I don't see Lehigh losing to Loyola at home, but American has to win at Army, which is not a given. HC also has to play at Army before hosting Boston. Lehigh has the easiest schedule other than the two road games at AU.

I haven't looked it up, but I wonder how many times we've come back from double digit deficits in the 2nd half against Lehigh in the last few years. I think we did it twice last year and I remember a couple of others during Roussell's time.

Part of that is due to Sue Traynor’s coaching. She is a female Brett Reid, i.e. a very good recruiter but a mediocre coach.

If you did not see the Lehigh game there was a blocked LU shot (I believe in the 3rd qtr, but maybe the 4th) where Taylor literally flew from nowhere into the screen to make the block. Worth watching the ESPN + video for that moment alone, but also for much more, especially in the 3rd.

It was at 5:26 of the third quarter. She blocked 6-3 Emma Grothaus.

As I have mentioned previously, Taylor high jumped 5-8 as a junior in high school. Had she focused on the high jump, she might well be clearing 6 foot by now. Despite only competing for four or five weeks, she did set the Bucknell high jump record two years ago.
