Boston lost to 9th place Colgate by 3 at home. Army leads American by 7 late in OT. Getting the help we need today. Need to get the job done at Lafayette.

Women’s basketball is fun to watch. I prefer the men’s game but I enjoyed watching the women play today. It’s a different kind of basketball for sure which is fun. And of course winning helps! ????

Birdsong just said Lafayette had won two of three while the Bison have been hit or miss lately. They’re 6-21! ????????????

The top six teams are now within 2 games of each other. I think it's safe to say anyone could win the tournament, with the possible exception of Loyola.

And the top five are within one game of each other in the loss column. If the bison could somehow beat Boston U on the road and run the table, they would have a realistic chance to end up with the top seed since they would own most of the tiebreakers.

At this point, with three games left, the Bison could finish anywhere from first to sixth. Best case scenario is to sweep the last three and hope AU and LU split. That would mean no worse than 2nd.

Taylor O'Brien deservedly gets this week's POW award. Had a total of 50 points in two games, despite her long-range shot still not back. She did hit two threes (one that ultimately was waved off on replay), so perhaps it might be returning.

Thanks be to the Gods for the Bison Women this season, yet another winning schedule as they compete for the regular and post season title.
With the men's team in the doldrums, the ladies have given us a colorful and bright display led by a coach who coaches well but also recruits well. More fans need to discover the "other Bucknell team" as they steamroll their way through another successful season.
For what ti's worth, the Bison Women have compiled the best Away record in the league, a sign of their balance and lineup strength.

I agree 100% with everything you say Candy except at this point I’d say that the guys are “ the other team.” Best of all, while the ladies will lose Taylor and Marly they have two freshman playing major roles (King and Collins the latter from Day 1, the former more recently, and don’t forget Sisselman)as well as Kulesza and Krsul, Shaffer and Johnson. This team will be good for years to come.

Excuse my lack of knowledge but curious if the women's team has ever recruited transfers or 5th year seniors. Could see 1-2 strategic recruits having a big effect. Teams like Villanova have improved - Bucknell has a longer history of excellence in their women's program and a solid base to build on.

I think fifth year seniors are a nonstarter to the Bucknell administration. Years ago, around 2003-06, the team had a lot of transfers which were necessitated by the number of outward transfers under Kathy Fedorjaka. IIRC, those transfers included guard Lillian Drumgold from UNCW, center Brooke Tomovich from Loyola Maryland, wing Jacquie Seawright from a Texas juco, and Andrea Wright from Penn. Andrea was also a middle distance runner for T&F.
One thing to keep in mind is that Woodruff’s staff has already wrapped up the recruiting class not only for this coming year but also for the following year. They had three commits among current high school juniors before the junior season had even begun. Both of those classes look to be very good.

If they get one recruit in the same league as Collins in each class, they will be very good for the foreseeable future.

American knocked off Lehigh this afternoon. They play again tomorrow. That makes the current standings look like this:
Boston U . 11-4
Holy Cross 11-4
Lehigh . . . 10-5
Bucknell . 10-5
American . 10-5
Army W.P. . 9-6
Boston U currently owns the tiebreaker due to a win over HC. But they play HC again at the end of the year. Bucknell is 3rd at the moment due to its 3-1 record vs LU and AU. AU is 2nd due to a 2-1 record against the group. AU meets LU tomorrow in a crucial game, which will knock one of them out of the 3rd place tie. It probably would be better for the Bison if LU wins, since the Bison swept the series vs LU and would thus own the tiebreaker in any two-way tie.

Lehigh lost badly to American this afternoon. I can't see them playing that badly two games in a row, but it's been that kind of year. We need a win over Army tomorrow to stay in contention for a top 3 finish.

Unfortunately I could see Lehigh play that badly. They are one of the two most talented teams, but are terribly coached.

Good question. But I have not heard any explanation. Surely Lehigh must’ve agreed to it, but I have no idea why they would.

Tonight was the best offensive game for the Bison since the Buffalo game. New career highs for Isabella King (15 pts, 5-6 3FG) and Marly Walls (19, 5-7, 3-4, 6-6). Taylor O'Brien had 20 to get her to 1001 for her career. Let's hope this is the start of a trend.
Boston lost at Lafayette to drop into a tie with Bucknell and the winner of the LU-AU game. Makes Sunday's game even bigger.

It appears that decision may have dropped them out of a home game in the tourney. At the moment they are 5th behind Bucknell, AU, and Boston who are tied kone behind HC. As the tourney nears AU AND Bucknell are hot, LU is not. That could all change over the last two games. It really would have been better for the Bison if AU had not swept the Hawks. In theory they have much the easier schedule over the last two games playing Lafayette and Loyola. Although at this point LC is no pushover as shown by taking us to OT and beating Boston.

Sadly for the women’s game, the majority of the referees are incompetent. Two of the three tonight, at a minimum, were in way over their head. In the final two minutes, with Bucknell leading by over 30 points, the lead referee did the following:
1. Immediately after Taylor O’Brien got her 1000th point, Bucknell called time out to take her out of the game and allow for a brief celebration. The referee spent the first part of that time out demanding that the players get off the court. No common sense.
2. With 2.5 seconds left, she stopped play for a video review of an Army shot to confirm that it was a three pointer. At that time Bucknell led by 28 points. Neither team and neither coach cared whatsoever. No common sense at all.
She also totally missed a few calls that led to make up calls by one of the other referees.
