Cornell beats Colgate at home 78-68. Very impressive win for the Big Red over what's probably the best team in the Patriot League.

Earl has this group playing really well to start the year, fun to watch. Hustling all over the place, and they're legitimately 10-11 deep right now.

There was a 20-ish minute stretch where Cornell outscored Colgate by 28; went from 12 down to 16 up.
Boothby looks better and better as a stretch forward. He hit both of his 3's, grabbed 9 rebounds (4 offensive) and hit 4 late FTs to quiet the potential Raider comeback.

20 minutes to FR. Nazir Williams who looked good, other than a few freshman mistakes.

Yes.... and these are the same Raiders who came within a whisker of beating middle-of-the-pack ACC team NCState on the Wolfpack's home floor three days before.

Coach Langel must be wondering who these guys were who put on Raiders' unis last night. The Red held them to 0-14 from the field with 4 turnovers during an 11-minute stretch late in the first half until midway in the second half.

Jones and Manon got the kind of help they deserve tonight from the other nine guys. That kind of defense and hustle is reminiscent of Steve Donahue's mid-2000's teams with Lenny Collins, Adam Gore, Jason Hartford, and the big long Iawegian, Andrew Naeve.

Great job, Red! Let's see what Friday brings!

A great win for the Big Red!

This is a fun team to watch. These guys are really hustling and throwing their bodies all over the court.

Dickson and Jones were known entities and both have seemed to improve their games after the year off.

The backcourt guys (Dolan, Patel, Noll) are all eager to drive the lane and take their lumps. Manon is incredibly confident (cocky?) and willing to mix it up with anyone. Boothby is a bit thin, right now, for the forward spot, but he is really good from three.

Hansen reminds me of Gettings, but more skilled when looking at both players as freshman. Ragland is less developed, but he has great size and a good outside shot.

I don't know how many wins they get later in the year, but they are definitely not going to be pushovers.

Kobe Dickson is the really interesting one here.

When Yale's Paul Atkinson moved on to Notre Dame, the Ivy League lost its last dominant big man. The Ivies now have a bunch of hard-working 6'9" guys and some frosh who need to learn, who will vie to establish themselves. A couple will probably emerge. Dickson has a great shot to be one of them.

He spent a lot of time on the court with Gettings and Warren during his first two years, so his numbers do not look like much. It is still unclear what he can do when he is THE MAN. He will now get his chance.

Look at the big man stat record over the years. The statistical standard for a solid season for a an Ivy big man is 6RPG, 9PPG, 1.5APG, 65% FT shooting, 3PF, and take care of the ball, during 24 MinPG action. A lot of times, this level of production doesn't catch your eye on the court, but it sure does on the stats sheet and the scoreboard. And, better yet, a team with one of these guys has a sound chance for a successful season.

Kobe Dickson is wide enough, tall enough, and experienced enough to get this done. He is easily as experienced as any other Ivy big he will face. If he puts in a solid season, the Big Red will compete with everyone.

4 days after they lost in Ithaca, Colgate went into the Carrier Dome and beat Syracuse for the first time since 1962, snapping a 54 game losing streak and scoring 100 points in the process

After Boeheim was injured late in the 19-20 season, Dickson started to see 30-ish minutes a game over the last three weekends. With all SSS qualifiers, he averaged 10P, 5R over that stretch on better than 66% shooting from inside the arc. He may be a story of what could have happened if he had been allowed to play his junior year (and/or could help someone next year as a grad student).
