This could get ugly, as Hofstra is significantly better than Saint Francis.

I wrote something but deleted it. What can I say? Probably a beatdown but I hope they hang tough and stay in the game.

It will be a victory today if the coach doesn’t stop coaching when things don’t go his way.

Just going by scores and a few hi-lights I saw, this could be worse than last game. Honestly never felt this way prior to the last two. Even when Bucknell went up in class I felt comfortable they would play tough and give a solid accounting of themselves.

Final: Hofstra 88, Bucknell 69. Bison had an early 18-2 run. Other than that, it was Hofstra 86, Bucknell 51. Time for ND to step down.

I didn’t watch the game, I just watched some play by play and it didn’t look good at all after Bucknell lost their lead in the 1st half. Bucknell lives and dies on the 3 and I don’t see them hitting those shots once league play starts.
My prediction is 9th place with an average of losing by 15+.

I can’t comment on this game because I didn’t want to pay a monthly subscription to watch one game.
Nathan Davis is making too much money and is too arrogant to step down. He needs removed.

I didn’t see the game, either. From the games I’ve watched on T V and in person, the Bison do not have much of an offensive plan other than pass around the perimeter and take an outside shot, maybe a drive here and there and maybe an attempted pass inside every so often (which they are not good at doing.) Obviously we struggle stopping penetration so I’m not sure what will change defensively, since no zone will be played.

I’ve seen enough to realize this offense needs to extend possessions and go through the 5 unless Rhodes is playing there. That rarely happens.
Defense isn’t played. Period. Davis was an assistant on Bison teams that played smothering defenses. This is one way in which his arrogance manifests.

Was at the game. Looked like an early blowout , 8-0 Hofstra then we went on an 18-2 run Hofstra got the lead back late in the first and did not look back. As for the Bison, too many giveaways, too many missed shots, it would be nice if Rice could make a layup, or any shot for that matter. Funk was not on one of his red hot nights, which could have kept us in a respectable distance.

The entire starting lineup had six assists combined. I’m no coach, but that isn’t good.

Bison now #313 in the nation in the Pomeroy rankings. Worst rank in the program's history.
Team ranks #358 in the nation in steals by their defense. That is LAST in the nation. And to complement that stat, they are in the bottom 30 in the nation in allowing the opposition to steal the ball. That's a difference of six possessions a game - just due to steals. Hard to make up. To some extent, those are functions of coaching and the system being played.
Team is also in the bottom 25 in the nation in defense (points allowed per possession) and also in the bottom 25 in shots blocked.
Fire ND.

Next up is Princeton at Jadwin. Princeton gutted out a win over Drexel this afternoon in OT. Tigers eat Bison meat. Anyone interested in going to watch the feast?

I’m already a sadist so I’ll pass. I’m going to the Richmond game. I’ll be driving home for Christmas from Florida and staying there and visiting a friend. I’ll be wearing the brown sac over my head.

I would be curious what former Bucknell players think about the current state of the program. I mean real, honest thoughts and feelings…not the kinds of things they say publicly or at functions but honest, unfiltered thoughts.

The last time the Bison played in Jadwin, in the 2015-16 season, they fell behind by 25 points late in the first half. Still trailed by 18-24 points the entire second half, before final minute threes by Sestina and Azzinaro against the Princeton third string cut the margin to a deceptive 12 points (89-77).
I doubt the Bison can keep it that close this time.

Good question. I think we can all agree they would not like the losing. Winning and losing is ultimately what matters. This is a losing program now and has been for years. A head coach can get away with almost any kind of arrogant behavior if 20 win seasons are the norm and competing for NCAA bids is the norm.

I know some former players are not at all impressed by Davis' coaching. These are players who were starters on good teams.

That was ND's first year, and a tough OOL schedule. One thing I recall is that they had a pre-game reception and ND appeared and actually spoke with the fans attending. COVID has prevented those events recently, which probably has ND happy he doesn't have to talk to fans as much.

Davis makes an incredible wage relative to the community and his performance as the head coach of a once proud program.
