Does CBS have to pay Bucknell for televising this game? I heard Vegas had to pull the O/U 0.5 Students in the Student Section tonight because too many people were taking the under...

I wonder what Nate "We gotta do a better job of" Davis will say we have to do a better job of after the game.

One guarantee is that if they lose he won’t blame the coaching.

At least Bucknell had a great takedown. Looked like a UFC Brock Lesnar move.

Totally missed the game, but getting killed on the boards was huge it would appear. Lehigh led 9-1 in offensive boards? Terrible. I understand Screen didn’t get shot attempts in the second half. Why not??

Game was typical of the whole season. Strong start fade down the stretch.

It was impressive! Kind of expected an ejection after that one. But he didn't play the rest of the game anyway.
Watching on TV, like a lack of boxing out on rebounds and lack of help defense contributed to this one. Of course lights out 3 pt shooting was the real kicker.

Lehigh Game 02-15-22 01:17 AM - Post#336482

There was one ND coaching blunder that surpassed his usual level of poor coaching. Specifically his subbing out of Xander Rice with the game on the line late in the fourth quarter.
In the second half, Rice had already been subbed out twice and had spent 4:22 on the bench - a lot more than he usually sits in a half. So he was well-rested. Then with 4:53 remaining, he picked up his fourth foul with the Bison trailing 72-71. ND took him out and subbed in Motta, which is a huge drop-off from Xander, and Rice was not happy about it. Apparently ND was confused and thought a D1 game consists of three halves and was thus saving him for the third half.
In any event, while Rice was on the bench (for no reason), LU ran the score up to 84-74, partly due to Motta's defense. By the time, ND put Xander back in, the game was over. But at least he saved him from committing a fifth foul. Btw, there was a media timout with 4:02 left, and Xander was left on the bench to rot after that timeout when there might have still been a chance to salvage the game. He ended up with 14 points, 5 assists, and 0 turnovers in only 26 minutes - far fewer minutes than his normal game.
Not sure if CBS showed that ND also tried to sub out Screen with a little over 5:00 left. To his credit, he basically refused to come out - which was the right move at that stage in the game, with Bucknell having few offensive options.

A few updated stats:
- Bucknell is now 353rd in the nation in defense.
- Bucknell is now 357th in the nation in forcing turnovers.
- Bucknell is now 353rd in the nation in having the ball stolen.
- Bucknell is now 342nd in the nation in offensive rebounding.
- Bucknell is now 341st in the nation overall. Not quites as bad as two weeks ago - but the second worst ranking in program history.
I am not sure how anyone could argue that a coaching change is not necessary.

Yea the announcers noted the attempted sub for Screen and said something like "Screen waves him off and told him he's good to stay in" or something like that.

137. To your point about Nate taking Rice and trying to take Screen out. You left out one key statistic.
Bucknell's 2-foul participation rate is #351 in div 1. I assume Bucknell's 3 and 4 foul participation rate would be in that range also.

Yes, it probably is. That would be one more big problem with Nathan Davis is coaching. Saving a player for after the game has been decided can’t ever be good strategy. And what he did with rice was just absurd.

Is that the euro step? I can’t watch the games anymore. They only bring misery and shame to my dojo.

ND knows tanking doesn't get us a better draft pick next year, right?
