The women finished in 4th place in the regular season at 12-6 and will host Lehigh on Monday at Sojka. Got a dominant 91-59 win over Colgate tonight. Let's hope they shoot like that Monday. King (5-5), Kulesza (4-5), and Sisselman (3-4) were 12-14 from 3.
Holy Cross beat Boston to take the #1 seed. American is #2 and Boston #3.

One of the most difficult things in college hoops is for a good team to beat another good time three times in one season. That is what it will take for the Bison ladies to advance in the PL playoffs . You may recall that last year the Bison had beaten Lehigh 4 times in that crazy abbreviated season, but could not do it one more time in the playoffs. If all goes according to form the next round will be in Worcester where the girls demolished HC earlier this year. Last night a sizable and boisterous crowd stormed the floor as the lady Crusaders clinched first in the PL vs Boston. It would be nice to see that kind of support for the Bison on Monday vs LU.

I think the big factor in last year’s loss to Lehigh wasn’t the fact that the bison had beaten them four straight times. Rather it was all of the Covid problems, we’re Bucknellwent all of February and the first week of March without playing a game and with only a couple of practices. When they played Lehigh, they were clearly not anywhere near ready due to the long layoff and lack of practice.
Holy Cross did have a pretty good crowd last night, but it should be noted that was the first one of the year. When Bucknell played there a few weeks ago the only students who turned out were some football players, who generally stayed for a half. And the overall attendance wasn’t more than 200. For the year, they averaged 213 pounds per game. Much lower than Bucknell.

Pounds per game? at an average weight of 150 those 1 1/2 fans would have been lonely

Don't know what Bucknell's attendance regulations were this winter, but HC's were fairly restrictive up until recently, including a brief period of no fans allowed.

It wasn't pretty, but they found a way to get it done again. Another 4th quarter comeback to beat Lehigh. Navy just knocked off #1 HC on a 3pt buzzer beater. Back at home on Thursday to take on the Mids.

Great game by freshman Bella King. Hit 5-7 on threes, and two of two on twos. Bison freshmen hit eight of 16 on threes. Everyone else went 0-7.
At Holy Cross, Jennifer Coleman banked in a three to win it at the buzzer.

Thanks for the Twitter link. I was following the play by play online and couldn’t imagine how they got that shot off in under a second.

Like I said earlier, it is not easy to beat a good team 3, times. We did not shoot well tonight, but Lehigh had an awful lot to do with that. This team doesn’t rattle, and finds a way. Can Navy come into Sojka and win? They already have. I think we will be ready this time.

Women's PL Tournament 03-08-22 12:56 AM - Post#338397

Bella King went 1-9 on threes in OOC play. Then 25-45 (56%) in PL play. And 16-23 (70%) in her last four games.
As her defense has improved, she has been playing a lot more than she did earlier in the year. She has only started five games – the last five - but has averaged almost 29 minutes a game in those five.

For the year, king ranks number six in the nation in three-point percentage among players who have made 25 or more threes. Having said that, her offensive game right now consists solely of stationary catch and shoot threes. Hopefully, next season she can show an ability to put the ball to the floor, while also improving her strength and rebounding. With O’Brien gone, there will be a need for a few players to be able to create their own shots.

Actually last night was the first game that I saw her score anything other than a three. I recall at least two close in 2 pointers.

Yes, made a nice pull up jumper on the first possession of the game, then a layup off a great feed from Krusl in the 4th.

It’s no accident she is now in the starting lineup. Probably the best pure shooter on the team.

Bison got a dominant win over Navy 64-44, that wasn't really that close. They led by as many as 27. Heading to American on Sunday for the championship game. O'Brien had a strong game, especially in the first half. King was "only" 3-5 from 3. Things got a little ragged in the 2nd half after they were up big, but in general the offense looked much more together tonight than on Monday.

I saw the attendance figure from yesterday’s win over Navy. Over 1,400! That’s a really nice crowd and I think it symbolizes what we all know: Bucknell is a basketball school. I hope the administration wakes up on the men’s side.
Congrats Bucknell women and let’s go dancing.

The ESPN bracket, which I don't put a lot of credence in, shows American as a 15 seed playing at UConn. Talk about a suicide mission. Bucknell has a much higher NET and RPI rating than American, so I have to think we could get a 14 or maybe 13 with some conference upsets. But I'm getting ahead of myself. Win Sunday, then worry about seeding and the opponent.

American went 15-1 at home this year, including an 8 point win over us. We’ll need to play our best game.
