Great recognition for these players.

Gainey DPOY once again and 2nd team all Ivy. His improvement even over the course of just the Ivy season was remarkable. What a difference maker he became. It is such a shame he won’t get a 4th year at Brown, but I wonder if he’ll do a year somewhere else as a grad transfer.

Lilly ROY, and is an unusual talent. He was fabulous this season. Anyone not lining up to see him play is missing out. He’s going to be very good for the next three years, and I think he has POY potential.

And Choh 2nd team for the 3rd straight season. What he did in some games - most notably against Maryland - was stuff you don’t see every day in our league. He’s like the poster child for what you want your top player to look like. And this was a guy who couldn’t really shoot it his freshman year.

Excellent outcomes for these guys.

Totally agree, Bruno.

I saw somewhere on Twitter that Gainey will do a transfer year and I would imagine that he will get some looks from good mid-major / low high-major teams.

My only (slight) gripe is Choh on the 2nd Team - I think you can make an argument for putting him on the 1st Team. He played a higher percentage of minutes than every 1st teamer, with the exception of Kirkwood and Swain. He was top 5 in scoring, rebounding, and assists in conference play and had the second highest offensive efficiency rating amongst players who used at least 28% of their team's possessions while on the court - he was behind only Evbuomwan.

Still, glad to see Choh and Gainey finish out their time in Providence with some recognition from the league.

All three deserved their honors.

(btw, What ever happened to Owusu-Anane?)

Despite all the positives, this was a team that MM said was his best ever and had a legitimate chance at winning the league.

There are still a lot of good players on the roster, but losing Choh, Gainey, Mitchell, and Meren is going to make it tough to finally break into the Ivy Tournament.

Due to the year off, Ivy seniors offer Power schools transfer options. I hear Pitt is looking at Gainey. Raphael Maya played a grad transfer year at Pitt in the past. Wonder if there's a connection, although Capel wasn't the coach at Pitt then.

David Mitchell also announced that he'll transfer.

Does Choh not get an extra year because of the cancelled 2020 season? I know he got a year that he wouldn't have gotten in the Ivy League due to the one time ruling, but does he get the universal Covid year that the NCAA instituted as well? I assume he would've announced his intention to transfer by now.

Pretty sure Choh is done. Mitchell should do what another role playing lefty did in Jason Massey. Massey went to a lower division school (Mercyhurst - D2?) and became their top player. Went from not being able to score the ball at Brown to averaging 16.

Gainey commits to FSU - https://twitter.com/slimjaylan/status/150 927794404...

Will be fun to see what he can do at the high major level. Trips to Cameron Indoor and the Dean Dome will be a change from weekends at the Pizzitola.

awesome for him and still good for the program. only thing better would be if he was able to do his last year for Brown - but then again it's time to clear some room to see what Nana can do.
