I would love to try it (as long as the NCAA doesn't mug us financially, anyway) in that it would expose the Palestra to new generations and markets in an interesting context, and therefore could help some in recruiting. That being said, one wonders if it would draw even as well as this last year in the Garden did, since probably a lot of people attending are doing it at least partially as an excuse to go to NYC. Whether Philly would have the same cachet for the average mediocre first-echelon team fan would have to be seen. I haven't been able to find a complete list of the places that are bidding, but places like Las Vegas (big tourist attraction), St. Louis (central location) and Hinkle Fieldhouse (historic, relatively central, in NCAA's backyard) have all been mentioned. Not having luxury boxes is another obvious problem for the Palestra.

Watch last weekend's episode of "Winning Time" when the Lakers play their first regular season game at the old Boston Garden if you want to get a good kick out of the stuff that happened before arenas had luxury boxes.
