A number of sources in the past few hours have said that Jay Wright is going to be stepping down. It is not official yet but there is already speculation on possible replacements. One name that pops up is Kyle Neptune, who played for Lehigh 15+ years ago. He is the current head coach at Fordham and was an assistant under Wright for many years.
If Wright just wants to recharge his batteries for a year, I could think of a great head-coaching job, where there would be little pressure, that should definitely be open next year. Might have to take a slight pay cut however but it would be a great service to his alma mater.

I think one of the most significant side-effects of today's NIL and Transfer Portal free agency is a lot of old timers will no longer have the desire to do what is necessary to win. The game you have to play today is world's apart from just 5 years ago.

Article today says that Jay says he’s lost his “edge.” Imo, even an “edge less” Jay Wright would be great at Bucknell. So maybe after a year or two to get his bearings, Jay, who could have just about any job he wants in coaching, maybe he decides it’s not about the money, but that he’d like to put his alma mater back on the college hoops map. What was that Moody Blues song “ In your wildest dreams?”

I think that song is right after "I know you're out there somewhere"
But if the planets did align (actually they are) and Wright did agree to come here and coach, I think the plan would get nixed by the AD. Thats how I feel we're at. Bucknell basketball is an afterthought right now.

Perfectly said. With this administration we spend millions to have Div. 1 athletics and could care less about wins and losses. Not only basketball, but all athletics are an afterthought, imo. Where are we in the Presidents Cup standings? How many of the programs have winning records? You would think with the investment you would want to a return, as in winning programs. Very sad.

Imo, in the totally unlikely scenario that Jay wanted to come here but was turned down by the admin, assuming that fact was public, I don’t think they would remain in their jobs for long.

Sounds like he wants to take a year off and then go to the NBA. He certainly opened the door.

According to all of his friends and Associates, Jay Wright hates the NBA and has absolutely no interest in ever coaching there. He said as much during his short tenure as assistant coach for an Olympic team. Apparently he hated every moment of it.
He has turned down several opportunities to become the head coach of the 76ers.
