With all of the scholarships available for the class of 2023 having been allocated many months ago, the staff has turned to offering current high school sophomores, following a huge week of AAU tournaments. They are setting their sights high, which is the right thing to do given how early it is to offer sophomores. Three offers that I noticed over the past couple of days are:
- Jillian Jekot, 6-0 wing from Cumberland Valley, near Harrisburg. Her three sisters have played for PSU, Villanova, La Salle, and St. Joes. Made Class 6A 1st team all-state. Made an unofficial visit to Bucknell earlier in the season. Offers from PSU, Pitt, DePaul, La Salle, St. Joes, Dayton, Richmond, Manhattan, and probably others.
- Alayna Rocco, 5-10 guard from North Catholic north of Pittsburgh. Joined Bucknell recruit Emma Theodorsson on the First team of the Pittsburgh All-Area team. Offers from DePaul, Kent State, Toledo, Akron, Harvard, Bowling Green, Charlotte, and maybe others.
- Claire Keswick, a 6-0 wing from Tabor Academy in Massachusetts. Made All-NEPSAC in the largest class. Offers from Michigan State, Xavier, Lehigh, Holy Cross, Dartmouth, Marist, Monmouth, UNH, Quinnipiac, and maybe others.

Offer to 5-6 (maybe) PG Orlagh Gormley, who is a soph at North Quincy (MA) HS. As a soph, she averaged about 28 ppg, 9 rpg, and 6 apg. Has offers from Boston U, Holy Cross, Siena, and maybe others.
Her junior sister has already committed to Boston U. She plays for private school Thayer Academy, and was the NEPSAC Class A (second largest) POY.

Staff continues to shoot for highly-ranked players for the Class of 2024 (i.e. rising juniors), which makes sense since there is still 16 months before signing date. Presumably they will have four scholarships to give out, although that is not definite. A list, likely not complete, of those with offers:
• Orlagh Gormley (MA) – 5-6 PG. Offers from Boston U, Holy Cross, Siena, Fairfield, Marist, Iona, and maybe others. (Older sister is committed to Boston U.)

• Lana McCarthy (NH) – 6-4 center. Offers from Monmouth, Lafayette, UNH, and maybe others. Was teammate of Isabella King. First team all-state.
• Alayna Rocco (PA) – 5-11 CG. Offers from Davidson, Navy, Kent, DePaul, Harvard, Bowling Green, Toledo, Charlotte, Akron, and maybe others. Plays for North Catholic in Pittsburgh suburbs.
• Reese Zemitis (PA) - 5-11 SG. Offers from Penn, Harvard, Columbia, Niagara, Monmouth, Fordham, St. Joes, and maybe others.

There have been four recent offers on the women's side. They continue to aim high - especially on a couple of them. Forwards and centers are the priority. Could really use a combo who can play the four or the five.
• Amber Howard 6-0 G/F (Bensalem PA) – offers from Iona, Yale, Delaware, La Salle, Rider, FDU, Lafayette, NC A&T, and maybe others.
• Alie Bisballe 6-4 F/C (MI) – offers from Vermont, Central Michigan, Bowling Green, Oakland, Iona, Buffalo, NE-Omaha, North Dakota, Grand Valley, WMU, and maybe others.
• Ellery Minch 6-2 G/F (IN) – offers from UAB, Murray State, Bryant, Liberty, Davidson, Cincinnati, Toledo, Penn, Wright State, Army, Holy Cross, Buffalo, Bradley, Butler, etc.
• Natalie Fox 6-4 F (NY-northeast of Poughkeepsie) – W&M, Colgate, Seton Hall, La Salle, Rider, Mt. St. Mary’s, E. Illinois, Bryant, Bing, Marist, Navy, Cornell, Lafayette, Canisius, Wofford, Cleveland St, Xavier, OSU, Miami (OH), Fordham, Hawaii, Manhattan, etc.
Note that Reese Zemitis was the last entry on the list from July of 2022. She committed to Bucknell three weeks ago. Now listed as 6-0. Had other offers from La Salle, Binghamton, Manhattan, Loyola, Army, Lafayette, Penn, Harvard, Columbia, Niagara, Monmouth, Fordham, St. Joes, and Drexel. St. Joes and Drexel were reportedly her other finalists.

Taking a stab at the makeup of our coach, Trevor, I'm thinking he's up for this temporary dilemma at Bucknell with so many leaving, i.e. players and coach(es)?
That is to say, knowing how competitive he is, he will admit that yes, some people have left. BUT, he will lOOk at the situation in a positive way by retorting that WE at Bucknell will just have to demonstrate that the present system (of confusion ?) works both ways, they can leave, but Bucknell can also bring them in!
My guess is he will accomplish this and put the Bucknell women back on top.

Combining and updating all of the above below. In recent weeks, Jekot committed to PSU and Keswick to Northwestern. Bisballe picked up a Michigan State offer, while Gormley added ones from Pitt and Seton Hall. And Matthews landed three Big East offers, including one from Kelly Mazzante at Georgetown. Never was optimistic about landing any of those. But one who I had some amount of optimism about - 6-4 Lana McCarthy, a HS teammate of Isabella King - recently picked up offers from Minnesota, Purdue, and Providence, among others.

Two more recent offers:
1. Marley Long, a 6-2 PF from Sidwell Friends School in DC. Didn't put up big numbers but Sidwell is the #1 girls program in the nation. Has offers from Colgate, W&M, Campbell, UNCG, Navy, Air Force, Towson, UNCW.
2. Madison Miller, a 6-3 PF/C from Morris Catholic in NJ. Has offers from Radford, GWU, USC Upstate, La Salle, St. Peter's, Lafayette, Siena, FDU, Seton Hall, Manhattan.
Team theoretically entered the recruiting season with five available scholarships. Four graduate next spring and one scholarship is not being used this coming season. I think it is likely that they will use four - and two of those four have already been committed. The obvious need, imo, is for a big player who can play the four and the five.
