From NYCHoops today:

NY Forward Commits To Ivy League Program
Zach Smart
Staff Writer

As one of the highest academic prospects in the local NYC area, Riverside Hawks wing/forward Richard Nweke will prolong his career in a place close to his home away from home.

The Dwight School Class of 2023 product made it official on Friday, committing to Columbia University of the Ivy League.

As a hard slashing forward with freaky athleticism and the ability to get to the rim, Nweke adds length and agility and two-way versatility to the program.

The combination of location and elite academics were pivotal factors triggering Nweke's decision.

"It was always my dream to play in an Ivy League program," said Nweke, a 6-foot-7 interchangeable piece who has added a feathery outside touch and evolving perimeter game.

"It's in New York. With friends, trainers, people who have supported me being close by, it's the best situation I could have asked for."

Riverside Hawks coach Kareem Meminger cited Nweke's wildly athletic style and explosiveness should work in Columbia's favor.

Especially considering the league's traditional, back to the rim bigs who may have a mismatch in Nweke.

Part of the rising senior's appeal is his ability to create mismatch issues. If he's got a smaller defender, he can back that defender down to the rim.

When playing in the post, he could take big rim protectors away from the paint with his shot or blow by them in one-on-one sequences.

"He's got a really high ceiling," said Meminger.

"He plays with a high motor. He's extremely versatile and is capable of guarding the 1-5."

"...traditional, back to the rim bigs..."?

When was the last time the writer watched a full season of Ivy hoops?
